Reports to: Quality Manager

Summary/Objective

The Quality Engineer position works directly with the Quality Manager, analyzing manufacturing processes for improvement using various methods of testing and inspection.

Essential Functions

  • Responsible for maintaining current technical, interpersonal, and communication skills through continuous development. Progressive development of skills should be cultivated through further education, seminars, company training, and other external resources such as reading material

Job Specific

  • Develop, apply and maintain quality requirements and standards for development and manufacturing products.
  • Serve as the primary quality assurance resource to department supervisor(s) for problem identification, resolution, loss reporting and continuous improvement.
  • Support concurrent engineering efforts by participating in design development projects representing quality assurance and the customer.
  • Assist in the design and implement methods for process control, process improvement, testing and inspection.
  • Promote and execute quality standards, inspection processes, test methodology, quality plans, documents and reports.
  • Assist in process certification.
  • Assist in reviewing customers purchase orders, contracts and change requests to ensure the necessary criteria and provisions are included in quality and process plans.
  • Develop, execute and analyze quality-reporting measures.
  • Review suppliers purchase orders and establish supplier quality requirements.
  • Assist in the quoting functions
  • Performs the pre-routing of purchase orders.


Miscellaneous Duties

  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace.
  • Based on business needs, assists, supports, and/or performs other miscellaneous duties as required within scope and ability.

Physical Demands Required

  • Talking and hearing frequently.
  • Frequent exposure to production floor elements such as noise, dust, fumes, odors, and heat
  • Sedentary Work: Lifting no more than 10 lbs at a time and occasionally lifting articles like docket files, ledgers and small tools.


Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, manufacturing engineering or equivalent (or associate’s degree in these fields plus minimum 4 years of industrial experience).
  • ASQ Certification or equivalent experience (CQT)
  • Experience in CNC manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to apply SPC (Statistical Process Control)
