Join the MercyOne Family! We are looking to hire a Radiology Assistant.
As a Radiology Assistant at MercyOne, you will be Under limited supervision of a licensed radiographer the radiographer assistant performs a wide variety of routine duties including clerical, technical and patient related functions. The radiographer assistant is responsible for assisting members of the imaging team and providing a broad range of health care services such as: patient check-in, exam review, preparation for the visit, patient education, assistance with exams and procedures, and patient transporting. The radiographer assistant is trained to use a wide variety of radiographic equipment, computers, and software.
Schedule:
- 3 nights a week 4:00 to 9:00 PM and every third weekend 1pm to 8pm.
General Requirements:
- Performs basic radiographer procedures under the supervision of a licensed radiographer in accordance with evidence-based clinical practice guidelines, and departmental and hospital policies and procedures.
- Checks requisitions and charts to confirm the correct examination and obtain any other information needed prior to performing the examination.
- Verifies correct patient using two patient identifiers before beginning a procedure.
- Informs patients of examinations being performed and obtains consent to perform procedure.
- Sets up the imaging room according to the imaging exam being performed including the use of proper isolation precautions when needed. Positions the patient for exams but does not take the image.
Education:
- Must be enrolled as a 2nd year student in an accredited Radiologic Technology program with current participation in radiology classes and clinical rotations.
- Child and Dependent Adult Abuse Mandatory Reporter Training is required within 6 months of hire and every 3 years thereafter.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) will be required within 30 days of hire and every 2 years thereafter.
