Medical Associates is seeking a full-time, Radiology Technologist to join their team!

Radiology technologists at Medical Associates are educated, trained, and licensed to perform a wide array of imaging exams and procedures on patients of all age.

Schedule: Position is scheduled in 9-hour shifts between 7:00am and 5:30pm Monday – Friday. This position also includes a minimal weekend and holiday rotation. 72 hours per 2 week pay period, full-benefits eligible! 

Location: Medical Associates East Campus and West Campus

Essential Duties:

  • Perform general and/or special diagnostic medical procedures, producing quality images for interpretation by physician.
  • Evaluate radiographic images for technical quality and prepare for Radiologist/Physician to read.
  • Explain procedure to patient and elicit patient histories, prepare patient and take radiographic images per established procedures.
  • Keep work area clean, organized, and stocked with pertinent supplies.
  • Maintain accurate charge tickets.
  • Practice sterile technique and prevent contamination.
  • Monitor patient's condition during procedure and initiate appropriate life support if necessary.
  • Maintain radiography imaging and digital processing equipment in good condition. Report equipment malfunctions to Manager Radiology.
  • Ability to utilize digital imaging systems to perform high quality imaging.
  • Complete all other assigned projects and duties.
  • Maintain proper information in the radiology information system, tracking images to other various locations.
  • Apply principles of radiation protection to both patient and staff.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Experience: One to three years of similar or related experience

Education: Equivalent to a two-year college degree or completion of a specialized course of study or certification. Board certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists. Iowa Permit to Practice Diagnostic Radiography.

Interpersonal Skills: Courtesy, tact, and diplomacy are essential elements of the job. Work involves personal contact with others inside and/or outside the organization, generally regarding routine matters for purposes of giving or obtaining information which may require some discussion.

Other Skills: General radiographic imaging skills, PACS, Cerner, Hoyer lift operations, pigg-o-stat, gurney, wheelchair. Ability to work independently, multitask, complete quality exams in a fast paced environment. Good computer skills, as well as, strong written and verbal communication skills. Mammography experience is preferred, but not required for this role. 


Physical Aspects:

Climbing - Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles and the like, using feet and legs and/or hands and arms. Body agility is emphasized. This factor is important if the amount and kind of climbing required exceeds that required for ordinary locomotion.

Balancing - Maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling when walking, standing or crouching on narrow, slippery or erratically moving surfaces. This factor is important if the amount and kind of balancing exceeds that needed for ordinary locomotion and maintenance of body equilibrium.

Stooping - Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist. This factor is important if it occurs to a considerable degree and requires full use of the lower extremities and back muscles.

Crouching - Bending the body downward and forward by bending leg and spine.

Reaching - Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.

Standing - Particularly for sustained periods of time.

Walking - Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances.

Pushing - Using upper extremities to press against something with steady force in order to thrust forward, downward or outward.

Pulling - Using upper extremities to exert force in order to draw, drag, haul or tug objects in a sustained motion.

Lifting - Raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position-to-position. This factor is important if it occurs to a considerable degree and requires the substantial use of the upper extremities and back muscles.

Fingering - Picking, pinching, typing or otherwise working, primarily with fingers rather than with the whole hand or arm as in handling.

Grasping - Applying pressure to an object with the fingers and palm.

Feeling - Perceiving attributes of objects, such as size, shape, temperature or texture by touching with skin, particularly that of fingertips.

Talking - Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word. Those activities in which they must convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers accurately, loudly or quickly.

Hearing - Perceiving the nature of sound with or without correction. Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication and to make fine discriminations in sound, such as when making fine adjustments on machined parts.

Vision - 20 / 40 or better in the best eye with or without correction.

Subject to Physical Hazards - Includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places, exposure to high heat or exposure to chemicals.

Medium Work - Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10 pounds force constantly to move objects.
