Description:

12-hour shifts, 3 days per pay period. Every third weekend & holiday.

The MercyOne Dubuque Emergency Department RN works closely with the ED physicians, pharmacy, case management, laboratory, radiology, consulting physicians, and EMS. The ED maintains accreditation as a Level III Iowa Trauma Center; Primary Stroke Center, and Senior ED. We see a variety of patients from newborn to the very elderly; trauma, cardiac, psych, peds, OB/GYN, ENT, etc. Nurse-to-patient ratios vary from 1:1 to 1:5 depending on acuity. We have 16 rooms and 17 beds in our department. Experienced RNs are preferred and complete a twelve-week orientation; however, new graduates with ED experience are considered.

EDUCATION, LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION REQUIRED:
A. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred or within 4 years of hire.
B. Must be a registered nurse and must hold an active license to practice nursing in the State of Iowa.
C. Certification by a nationally recognized nursing organization is preferred and strongly encouraged.
D. The registered nurse continuously seeks opportunities to enhance his or her own professional nursing practice. Membership in an appropriate professional nursing organization is recommended.
E. Child and Dependent Adult Abuse Mandatory Reporter Training is required within 6 months of hire and every 3 years thereafter.
F. Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) will be required within 30 days of hire and every 2 years thereafter.
G. Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support Certification (ACLS) (provided on job if necessary)
H. Pediatric Advanced Life Support Certification (PALS) (provided on job if necessary)
I. Trauma Nursing Core Course Certification (TNCC) (after one (1) year of working in the department)
J. National Institute of Health Stroke Scale Certification (NIHSS) (will be completed by the end of orientation)
K. CPI Certification (offered onsite)
