Shift: Part-time: Evenings, 2:00 pm - 10:30 pm, for 32 hours per pay period. There is an every other weekend rotation. This is a student position and will end once finished with the program.

We are seeking a motivated and compassionate Respiratory Therapy Student to join our hospital’s Respiratory Care team. This position provides hands-on clinical experience under the direct supervision of licensed Respiratory Therapists and physicians. The student will assist in delivering high-quality respiratory care to patients across various hospital units, including critical care, emergency, and general medical floors. This is an excellent opportunity to gain real-world experience in a fast-paced acute care environment while completing your respiratory therapy program.

Responsibilities

• Assist licensed Respiratory Therapists with respiratory treatments and procedures

• Set up and maintain respiratory equipment, including oxygen delivery systems and aerosol devices

• Support non-invasive ventilation and mechanical ventilation setup under supervision

• Perform basic patient assessments (vital signs, pulse oximetry) as permitted by policy

• Document care provided in the electronic medical record (under supervision)

• Respond to respiratory therapy calls and emergencies as part of the care team

• Maintain equipment cleanliness and adhere to infection control standards

• Participate in department meetings and ongoing educational opportunities

Qualifications

Education:

• Currently enrolled in an accredited Respiratory Therapy program and in good standing

• Completion of foundational respiratory coursework (clinical experience preferred)

Certification/License:

• Must possess and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or within three (3) months from date of hire
