Sign-On Bonus: $10,000 for qualifying applicants.
Work hours will be rotating days, for 32 hours per pay period, and as needed.
Promotes and restores patients’ cardiovascular health by completing the nursing process; collaborating with physicians and the multidisciplinary team while providing physical and psychological support in a holistic manner to patients and their families. Maintains a practice environment that reflects the ANA Code for Nurses. Performs device interrogation and manages various implanted cardiac devices. This position works closely with industry representatives from a variety of vendors.

Responsibilities
Patient Education and Support
- Provides pre-, intra- and/or post-procedure education for patients undergoing device implantation.
- Instructs patients and/or families regarding examination, procedure, treatment, discharge and outcomes and allows time for questions.
- Utilizes visual/teaching aids as needed
- Provides teach-back/return demonstrations when appropriate.
- Encourages family participation.
- Verbalizes where to find interpreter services.
Care Coordination
- Works as a team with industry representatives as needed.
- Acts as a resource within the hospital regarding issues/concerns with devices for inpatient and outpatient populations.
- Communicates data findings to referring physician and/or Cardiologist.
Safety and Equipment Knowledge
- Maintains knowledge of patient equipment.
- Assesses the need for additional safety measures.
- Attends educational offerings related to device management.
- Identifies potential problems early and provides timely communication regarding battery generator life.
Departmental Support
- Possesses the ability and makes independent decisions based on the knowledge of departmental functions, policies and procedures.
- Promotes the development, preparation, implementation and attainment of departmental goals, policies and projects.
- Communicates with the department supervisors as necessary when problems or unusual circumstances arise and documents as necessary.
Basic UPH Performance Criteria
- Demonstrates the UnityPoint Health Values and Standards of Behaviors as well as adheres to policies and procedures and safety guidelines.
- Demonstrates ability to meet business needs of department with regular, reliable attendance.
- Employee maintains current licenses and/or certifications required for the position.
- Practices and reflects knowledge of HIPAA, TJC, DNV, OSHA and other federal/state regulatory agencies guiding healthcare.
- Completes all annual education and competency requirements within the calendar year.
- Is knowledgeable of hospital and department compliance requirements for federally funded healthcare programs (e.g. Medicare and Medicaid) regarding fraud, waste and abuse. Brings any questions or concerns regarding compliance to the immediate attention of hospital administrative staff. Takes appropriate action on concerns reported by department staff related to compliance.

Education:

Graduate of accredited nursing program (Must obtain BSN within 5 years of hire)

Bachelor of Science (BSN) degree in Nursing |
Experience:
|
|
· Previous experience with cardiac patient population · EPIC EMR system experience |
License(s)/Certification(s):
|
· Current licensure in good standing to practice as a Registered Nurse in Iowa. · Must possess and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or within three (3) months from date of hire. · ACLS certified within 1 year |
