The Emergency Department specializes in emergency medicine and operates 24 hours a day. The department sees a variety of patients from newborns to geriatrics who come by ambulance or walk in. The Emergency Department provides the initial treatment and stabilization of patients who come with a broad spectrum of illnesses and injuries, some of which can be life threatening.

Responsibilities
Provides nursing care for patients, with actual or potential health care problems using the nursing process. Plans and directs the nursing care for individuals, patients, groups of patients and their families, coordinating care in collaboration with other health care professionals. Duties include performing physical exams and health histories, providing health promotion and education, administering medications, wound care, and numerous other personalized interventions. Interprets patient information and makes critical decisions about needed actions.
Qualifications
Must hold an active license to practice nursing in the state of Iowa. The position requires at least an Associate's degree in nursing. RN employees are required to have or obtain a BSN within five years after their start date with UnityPoint Health - Finley Hospital.
