Come join our Resource Float Team, we do accept new grads into the Float Pool.
Resource float staff go to the five inpatient units, Emergency Department when there are boarders, Telesitter camera monitoring and may be utilized on other units and departments as the need arises. The main units include the following:
- 5 MS, a surgical unit which is a 20-bed unit which is mostly surgical based patients, but also includes medical patients including oncology and pediatric population.
- 5 North, medical unit a 23-bed unit which is mostly medical patients, which includes fresh cardiac catheterizations, strokes, CHF, COVID, pneumonia and dialysis (CAPD is done on the floor) along with many other diagnoses.
- Acute Rehab unit – a 10-bed unit, which is mostly neurological based rehabilitation include strokes, brain tumors, head trauma, and patients who have need for more rehabilitation due to deconditioning.
- Behavioral Health unit – a 9-bed unit for gero-psych diagnoses such as dementia, psychoses, bipolar, schizophrenia, anxiety, and depression in a geriatric population of 55 years old and older population.
- ICU – a 10-be unit for critically ill patients and need for cardiac drips and other specialty needs. This is a nurse run unit in which PCTs are added when census is higher or there is a need for 1:1 coverage.
- ED – a 16 bed unit in which we support with staff when there are boarders.
- Telesitter – this is a part of the Resource Team in which you would monitor up to 12 cameras for patient safety issues.
As a member of the interdisciplinary team, contributes professional nursing knowledge and skills in the provision and management of care to patients and their families. Maintains a practice environment that reflects the Professional Practice Model and in collaboration with other care givers. The Internal Resource Team (IRT) provides support and additional resources to inpatient nursing units throughout UnityPoint Health—Dubuque during times of vacancy, high acuity, and census variations.

Responsibilities
Clinical Excellence/Patient Care
- Assesses the needs of patients and families, providing appropriate teaching and making the necessary referrals to provide continuity of care.
- Develops an individual plan of care using a collaborative approach with the patient/family and health care team.
- Promptly completes documentation to assure an accurate legal record of patient’s care.
- Delivers high quality care utilizing the nursing process while demonstrating knowledge and clinical skills of the specialty required on assigned unit in accordance with established policies, procedures and standards of care.
- Utilizes holistic approach (considering biopsychosocial, spiritual, educational, safety, and related criteria) appropriate to the age of the patients and families served in the assigned service area.
- Delegates and provides direction for other healthcare team members within their scope of practice and holds them accountable for their involvement in the plan of care.
- Utilizes critical thinking in developing nursing interventions while maintaining responsibility and accountability for the knowledge of conditions of assigned patients.
Clinical Excellence and Patient Education
- Assesses and chooses teaching strategies appropriate to the patient’s and their families’ age-specific needs, culture, gender, readiness to learn and level of comprehension.
- Consults appropriate resources within the hospital to provide specialized education.
- Demonstrates knowledge that patient and workplace safety is a priority by preventing errors, accidents and infections and reporting potential or actual concerns immediately.

Education:
|
Graduate of accredited nursing program (Must obtain BSN within 5 years of hire) |
Bachelor of Science (BSN) degree in Nursing |
Experience:
|
|
One (1) year of hospital clinical experience or demonstrated clinical efficacy. |
License(s)/Certification(s):
|
· Current licensure in good standing to practice as a Registered Nurse in Iowa. · Must possess and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or within three (3) months from date of hire. |

Other:

· Satisfactory completion of Finley Nurse Residency program with 1 year of start date for all nurses with minimal or no prior acute care experience. · Use of usual and customary equipment used to perform essential functions of the position.
