Job Overview
Portzen Construction is currently searching for a full-time Safety Director. Portzen Construction, Inc. is located in Dubuque, Iowa.
The Safety Director will maintain a safe working environment by adhering to, and enforcing the use of all safety procedures and policies, including use of Personal Protective Equipment as required. Perform accident investigations as needed to prevent reoccurrence. Identify, lead, and implement safety improvements.
Qualifications:
- Five or more years of relevant safety experience.
- Expert knowledge of OSHA Safety regulations.
- Self-directed, organized, and self-motivated to accomplish goals.
- Excellent teamwork, communication and people skills is a must.
- Proactive and pragmatic thinker, is deliberate and decisive in making decisions.
- Solid time management system and demonstrates excellent organization skills.
- Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel & Outlook.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure compliance with applicable OSHA and other safety laws.
- Coordinate safety training programs including agenda and materials for safety meetings.
- Coordinate safety awareness programs including job site specific site plans and safety committee meetings.
- Maintain appropriate documentation of safety programs including inspections, certifications, etc.
- Advise managers and supervisors at all levels on safety related issues.
- Collect, record and report data on safety related operations, including work injury causes.
- Work with insurance company on all work comp related claims.
- Work with third party providers on drug testing and other pre-employment testing.
- Inspect jobsites for compliance with state, local and federal regulations.
