Saw Operator

Job Overview

• Set up and operate power saws / band saws to cut metal materials 
• Choose and install correct blades and cutting tools 
• Measure materials accurately using: 
  • Tape measures 
  • Calipers / gauges 
• Read blueprints, cut sheets, or work orders 
• Inspect finished pieces to ensure they meet specs 
• Load/unload materials (sometimes using forklifts or cranes) 
• Maintain equipment and keep work area safe and clean 

• Basic math and measurement skills 
• Ability to read a tape measure precisely 
• Mechanical aptitude 
• Ability to lift ~40–50 lbs and stand long shifts 
• Manufacturing or machine experience (preferred but not always required)
