Overview
Responsible for providing security screening services that seek to create a safe and secure environment for the hospital community. The Security Officer undertakes activities designed to identify, deter, abate, or correct situations; both routine and emergent that are within the scope of responsibility for the department, as they occur on hospital owned or controlled property.

Responsibilities
Physical Environment of Care
- Patrol hospital buildings and premises to prevent fire, theft, vandalism, and intruders.
- Monitor conduct of visitors on hospital premises.
- Confront unauthorized persons for questioning as needed.
- Screen visitors, patients and team members at entrances.
- Report safety and/or fire hazards or security violations.
Departmental Support
- Complete incident report on any significant security incident or concern, relays safety related information as appropriate.
Qualifications

Preferred or Specialized Not required to perform the essential functions of the position. |
Education: |
High School diploma or highest level of post-secondary education. |
Associate or Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice law enforcement |
Experience:
|
|
Military, law enforcement and/or security experience is highly preferred. |
License(s)/Certification(s):
|
Valid driver’s license when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons. |

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
|
Ability to de-escalate violent, aggressive, or disruptive persons. Use of critical thinking in a high stress environment. Excellent observation skills.
