McGraw-Hill Education, the leading provider of digital and print educational materials is looking for a creative, innovative, strategic Senior Instructional Designer, ELA for our Product programs.
You will be a valuable member of a collaborative group of Instructional Designers, closely partnering with teams focused on content, product management, UX, and creative media. As part of this team, you will create robust digital tools, curriculum and learning solutions in a variety of formats that are used by millions of educators and students every day. The Senior Instructional Designer, ELA is a digital savvy content and curriculum expert, responsible and accountable for assembling high-quality content based on specific product requirements for the Product programs.
This is a Project Status Worker (PSW) role with an end date of 12/31/2025.
This position is 100% remote. Candidates can work anywhere within the United States.
Your contribution to the team includes:
- Using Instructional Design skills, you will be
- A strong contributing member to the overall product vision.
- Owner of all Instructional design Planning and Build documents and processes as it pertains to the function that you are responsible for.
- Owner of various prototype workstreams
- A contributor while we support Academic Design in the creation of key pedagogical documents and outcome-based metrics
- Lead an overall function using a UBD process, helping the team to design, storyboard, and develop digital curriculum assets such as videos, eBooks, interactives, simulations, games and virtual labs.
- Lead concept meetings, review manuscript, storyboards, alpha builds, and beta builds for digital assets.
- Proactively identifying problems, sourcing solutions and appropriate stakeholders and identify risks.
- Suggesting innovative approaches for process and digital integration in products.
- Works to support Program Goals, process and practices, and Teacher and Student outcomes that bring value to the business.
- In regards to Content Authoring, you will
- Provide leadership and ownership of the utilization of specific authoring tools, including but not limited to, creation of templates and authoring processes.
- Demonstrate leadership and ownership of all user testing.
- Demonstrate leadership of specific functions of product build.
- Provide product training and coaching to internal teams, where applicable.
- Collaborate and lead on cross-functional teams to ensure that product requirements, project schedules, and product goals are met and on completed on time.
- In regards to Quality Implementation, you will
- Provide leadership with Accessibility, creating guidelines and training of functional teams
- Provide Leadership with specific functions of production.
- Serve as the owner of all maintenance needs
- Guide our internal team of Instructional Designers who will be responsible for vendors and freelancers writing guidelines, answering questions, and scheduling, where applicable.
- Collaborate with cross-functional team members to identify, test, troubleshoot, define, and follow up on technical bugs and enhancements as they arise in authoring tools and the platform. When necessary, help define requirements for platform and authoring tool enhancements

What you’ll need to be successful:
- Bachelor’s or Masters degree in Instructional Technology, Instructional Design, or related field required.
- 4 - 5 years experience working in digital content development that includes teaching and learning materials.
- Experience managing multiple projects within tight deliverables and budgets.
- Strong ability to communicate and lead cross-functional meetings.
- Experience with authoring tools, learning management systems, and content management systems.
- Ability to create and visualize animated and interactive content.
A successful candidate may have:
- Background in educational publishing preferred.
- Previous K-12 teaching experience.
The pay range for this position is between $65,000 - $80,000 annually, however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience and location. Additionally, a full range of medical and/or other benefits may be provided, depending on the position offered.
