Your Responsibilities

As an Engineering Supervisor – Functional Software PV&V for John Deere Construction and Forestry located in Dubuque, IA, you will lead a team charged with the verification and validation of embedded software features on all John Deere construction equipment. You will develop the strategies & skillsets necessary to deliver quality software our customers expect. With your guidance, the team will develop analysis and testing approaches to ensure quality, timely execution on numerous programs. In addition, you will:

  • Work with the numerous stakeholders, develop an aligned vision for the Functional Software PV&V team
  • Lead and provide guidance to embedded software test engineers
  • Work with software development leadership throughout the Deere enterprise to create and execute aligned strategies
  • Initiate and execute strategies to improve the quality and efficiency of embedded software verification
  • Lead the planning and execution of Construction Division embedded software verification per product line deliverables and schedules
  • Work with product line management throughout the construction division to assists in the resolution of complex technical and project management problems 
  • Continuing to build our competency and improve our efficiency in this space

What Skills You Need

  • 3 or more years developing and/or testing embedded software and experience with electronic systems
  • Demonstrated software engineering knowledge and application to technical problem solving
  • Experience in working with suppliers, partners and co-workers in the development of embedded software
  • Experience with Product Delivery Process and Product Verification and Validation Sub-Process

  • Significant knowledge in the application of embedded software processes
  • Experience with automated software testing in Hardware-in-Loop, Software-in-Loop or Model-in-Loop test environments

Education

Ideally you will have a degree or equivalent related work experience in the following:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, preferably in Electrical or Software Engineering

The John Deere Dubuque Works is one of the key facilities in Deere & Company's Construction and Forestry (C&F) Division. The Dubuque Works manufactures backhoe loaders, crawler dozers, and skid steer loaders for the construction industry and knuckleboom loaders and tracked feller bunchers for the forestry industry.  The Dubuque Works also serves as the Center of Excellence for the C&F Division in the areas of Product Engineering, Product Verification and Validation, Supply Management, and Product Support which includes the Dealer Technical Assistance Center.  From a manufacturing perspective, the core competencies of the factory include plate and sheet cutting, machining, welding, paint, and assembly.
