Accountant – Cottingham and Butler

What our Accountants do and why they are important

Cottingham and Butler is growing and we are adding an Accountant to our team! As an Accountant you will help manage the key financial activities that make our company thrive. For this role specifically, you will work across various parts of the Accounting department to develop a wide range of knowledge and skills.

In practice, the core activities of the role are:

·      Managing external accounts: vendors, pre-paid accounts, setting up new clients, etc.

·      Working with internal team: employee reimbursement, paying bills, and managing other money inflows/outflows

·      Improving the overall efficiency and effectiveness of our processes through automation and other potential innovations

As you know, Accountants are cornerstones for any successful business. Your knowledge and skills will facilitate key financial flows throughout the business as well as help mangers make informed strategic decisions. Because you will be so integral to the Cottingham and Butler’s success, there are a few important characteristics we look for:

·      Efficient

·      Analytical

·      Ability to handle a wide variety of tasks.

In addition to the four traits listed above, you will need have a Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field. If you meet these minimum qualifications, we can teach you the rest. While experience and technical knowledge are preferred, we don’t expect anyone to be perfect right away. It’s more important to us that you show work ethic and willingness to learn so that you can develop in the role.
