Overview
Medical Associates is adding a Staff Accountant to our Finance team! This person should demonstrate strong attention to detail and knowledge of Excel.
Daily Activities: As a staff accountant you will work in a fast-paced environment where daily duties fluctuate depending on the time of month/year. You will be responsible for tasks related to maintaining the general ledger throughout the year, along with monthly preparation of financial statements. Annual tasks that the staff accountant will be involved with include annual financial audit, budget, compensation calculations, and inventory control.

Responsibilities & Essential Functions:
- Prepare and direct posting of journal entries in general ledger for all applicable entities.
- Prepare monthly financial statements and related schedules for applicable entities.
- Review and analyze all general ledger accounts for monthly and year-end closing.
- Review and analyze monthly budget variances and assist in preparation of the annual budget.
- Maintain relevant statistical data used in analyzing trends and financial performance.
- Assist in the preparation of workpapers and schedules required for annual financial statement audits.
- Calculate simple physician and advanced practice provider compensation agreements.
- Assist with compiling information for survey submissions to regional and national associations in areas of compensation and productivity, revenue and expense.
- Complete all other assigned projects and duties.
Performance Measurements:
1. Work efficiently, accurately, and independently with general ledger, financial reporting, inventory
tracking, spreadsheet, and word processing software applications.
2. Maintain confidentiality regarding Medical Associates, its clients, and employees, holding financial
matters in the strictest confidence.
3. Follow Clinic policies, procedures, and guidelines.
4. Maintain a cooperative, helpful work environment within the department, as well as, with other
departments and employees.
5. Be courteous, professional, and responsive in dealing with physicians, management, and staff.
6. Have knowledge of accounting principles, commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within the health care industry.
7. Be as accurate and efficient as possible in all accounting duties.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Experience: One to three years of similar or related experience.
Education: Equivalent to a college degree. A Bachelors degree in Accounting or Finance is strongly preferred.
Courtesy, tact, and diplomacy are essential elements of the job. Work involves personal
contact with others inside and/or outside the organization, generally regarding routine
matters for purposes of giving or obtaining information which may require some discussion

Physical Aspects:
Reaching - Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.
Lifting - Raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position-to-position. This factor is important if it occurs to a considerable degree and requires the substantial use of the upper extremities and back muscles.
Fingering - Picking, pinching, typing or otherwise working, primarily with fingers rather than with the whole hand or arm as in handling.
Grasping - Applying pressure to an object with the fingers and palm.
Talking - Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word. Those activities in which they must convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers accurately, loudly or quickly.
Hearing - Perceiving the nature of sound with or without correction. Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication and to make fine discriminations in sound, such as when making fine adjustments on machined parts.
Vision - 20 / 40 or better in the best eye with or without correction.
Repetitive Motions - Substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands and/or fingers.
Sedentary Work - Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
