Summary

Computes, classifies, records, and maintains accounting records by performing the following duties.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

  • Compiles and sorts documents such as invoices, checks, and substantiating business transactions.
  • Ensures financial transactions match with the general ledger and financial spreadsheets.
  • Audits invoices, researches discrepancies, and approves for payment.
  • Investigates problems that vendors or purchasing agents have with obtaining payments for bills.
  • Computes and records charges, refunds, costs of lost or damaged goods, freight charges, rentals, and similar items.
  • Prepares and reviews vouchers, invoices, checks, account statements, reports, and other records to ensure accuracy.
  • Assists with reconciliation of general ledger accounts with various registers.
  • Extracts general ledger information.
  • Assist with reconciliation of bank statements.
  • Assist with monitoring loans, accounts payable, and accounts receivable to ensure that payments are up to date.
  • Reconciles report discrepancies and problems.
  • Reviews, balances, and interprets computer reports, and suggests corrections.
  • Assist employees, vendors, or customers by answering questions related to accounts, procedures, and services.
  • Complete sales and use tax returns for multiple states monthly, quarterly, and annually.
  • Process weekly payroll and associated reports.
  • Process Intercompany Accounts Payable.
  • Create AIA pay forms for customers.
  • Generate and process month-end journal entries.
  • Assist with gathering information for year-end audits.
  • Track and record Fixed Assets.
  • Act as back-up processing role for general Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, and Cash Reporting role.
  • Assists with Special Projects as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience                                                      

Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; and one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

Language Skills                                                   

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.

 

Mathematical Skills                                                         

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.  Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

 

Reasoning Ability                                               

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

 

Computer Skills                                                  

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of accounting software; Database software; Spreadsheet software, and Word Processing software. Knowledge of EPICOR software a plus.

Compensation:

Salary to commensurate with experience, ranging from $60,000-$65,000 annually.
