Overview
Sterile Processing Tech I
Full-time, 1.0 FTE (40 hours/week)
Evenings, 12:30 pm - 9:00 pm, for 80 hours per pay period. There is a holiday and weekend rotation.
This position is responsible for collecting, identifying, inspecting, cleaning, assembling, processing and sterilizing patient care equipment and medical supplies in support of all hospital and clinical areas for the care, diagnosis and treatment of patients.

Responsibilities
Sterile Processing
- Demonstrates understanding of decontamination, disinfection, inspection, assembly and sterilization procedures.
- Demonstrates knowledge of infection control principles, Spaulding’s classifications, aseptic techniques, medical/surgical procedures and terminology.
- Demonstrates knowledge of instrumentation names and using the instructions for use to care and handle the instruments.
- Demonstrates knowledge of use of the sterilizers and washer disinfectors.
- Demonstrates the ability to independently perform qualification series testing on autoclaves in the Sterile Processing department.
- Gathers, reprocesses, and delivers medical surgical equipment to all areas of the hospital.
- Ability to follow detailed procedures. Must be able to listen to instruction, translate it into activity, and reproduce what is taught.
- Understands and uses the appropriate level of disinfection and sterilization methods for the product being processed to ensure there is no damage to the product and to ensure there is no contamination to the environment.
- Must be able to disassemble and assemble general instrument trays/sets for nursing units and clinics. Must be able to recognize when all instruments are in proper working order.
- Ability to complete Case Cart assembly.
Qualifications
Education:
High School Diploma/GED required.
