Description
Tri-State Surgery Center is seeking a full-time Sterilization Tech to join our team! Our ideal candidate is someone who is energetic, self-motivated, enjoys working independently, and has excellent communication skills. Sterilization Tech experience preferred, on-the-job training can be provided if needed!
Schedule: Monday - Friday, working shifts 7:30am-4pm or 8:30am-5pm. This position is 64 hours per 2 week pay period.

Essential Responsibilities:
- Performs proper cleaning, sterilization, and storage of instrumentation between uses and when newly purchases.
- Maintains instruments and supplies in accordance with written policies and procedures that are in compliance with various regulatory and accrediting agencies and by the recommendations of the manufacturers. (IFU’s). Able to track and review items in electronic database.
- Prints preference cards and pulls cases for the following days procedures, including prioritizing any instruments needs.
- Assists with the development, monitoring, and record keeping of the standards of assigned areas pertaining to the operating room, sterilization and decontamination, and corresponding ancillary areas. Monitoring includes but is not limited to mechanical, chemical and biological testing of the sterilization process.
- All instruments (newly purchased, brought in from vendors and/or used during a surgical procedure are washed, and sterilized or disinfected according the manufacture instructions for use (IFU’s).
- Assists material coordinator with receiving of supplies.
- Perform routine cleaning and orderliness of the central sterilization area.
- Complete all other assigned projects and duties.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Experience: One to three years of similar or related experience.
Education: Equivalent to a high school education. Central Sterilization Service Tech certification preferred but not required.
Interpersonal Skills: Normal courtesy dealing with others is required. Work involves minimal contacts, usually within the organization. Contact usually involving routine, non-sensitive issues.
Other Skills: Ability to multi-task, work in a fast paced environment and work independently with limited direction, strong time management skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Use and operate a variety of medical equipment and instruments. Use personal protection equipment including gloves, gowns, goggles and face masks/shields. Comprehension of medical terminology.
Physical Aspects:
Stooping - Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist. This factor is important if it occurs to a considerable degree and requires full use of the lower extremities and back muscles.
Kneeling - Bending legs at knee to come to a rest on knee or knees.
Crouching - Bending the body downward and forward by bending leg and spine.
Reaching - Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.
Standing - Particularly for sustained periods of time.
Walking - Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances.
Pushing - Using upper extremities to press against something with steady force in order to thrust forward, downward or outward.
Pulling - Using upper extremities to exert force in order to draw, drag, haul or tug objects in a sustained motion.
Lifting - Raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position-to-position. This factor is important if it occurs to a considerable degree and requires the substantial use of the upper extremities and back muscles.
Fingering - Picking, pinching, typing or otherwise working, primarily with fingers rather than with the whole hand or arm as in handling.
Grasping - Applying pressure to an object with the fingers and palm.
Feeling - Perceiving attributes of objects, such as size, shape, temperature or texture by touching with skin, particularly that of fingertips.
Talking - Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word. Those activities in which they must convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers accurately, loudly or quickly.
Hearing - Perceiving the nature of sound with or without correction. Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication and to make fine discriminations in sound, such as when making fine adjustments on machined parts.
Vision - 20 / 40 or better in the best eye with or without correction.
Medium Work - Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10 pounds force constantly to move objects.
