Job Description

To attain and maintain desired performance levels for all assigned stores and associates in the areas of appearance, customer service, sales and profits and store operations. Develop and promote processes for inventory flow, POG, cart starters, etc. for successful execution of brand initiatives.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in Store Management or Store Operations
  • Valid driver’s License and clean driving record
  • Some combination of education and experience may be considered for this position
  • Travel to trade shows, conferences/meetings and stores will be required and some will require overnight stays

 

Job Duties

  • Demonstrate effective leadership through consistent communication and evaluation of Theisen’s Brand standards of customer service and store operations within assigned stores
  • Follow up regularly and effectively with store management and store associates on training and development
  • Attain and exceed sales, shrink expenses and meet income goals
  • Analyze store sales at category and department level to provide direction and improve customer shopping experience
  • Implement policies and procedures, help managers prioritize responsibilities with time and action plans, and follow-up on their adherence
  • Work closely with underperforming stores to ensure company expectations are met through mentoring and performance management
  • Maintain Theisen’s Brand appearance and merchandising standards in stores
  • Work with store management on discontinued merchandise control and shrinkage
  • Assess inventory preparation of each assigned location and management performance
  • Evaluate and communicate competitive threats and opportunities in assigned markets, visit competition on a bi-weekly basis, and follow up with stores regarding the outcome of Secret Shopper visits
  • Work with store managers to maintain acceptable associate turnover levels
  • Attain ultimate customer satisfaction through training of associates and follow up on all customer complaints
  • Follow up on directives and suggestions from the President and other members of senior management
  • Work with store managers on monthly and annual budgets and P&L, and work with President and CFO on monthly and annual budgets and P&L on a quarterly basis
  • Evaluate ad results and forecasts and report back to Purchasing Managers and Director of Marketing
  • Perform yearly performance evaluations and discipline as needed
  • Mentor and develop store managers and assistant managers to meet and exceed company standards and goals
  • Be a leader and shining example for store managers and associates
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Experience with accounting, budgeting, forecasting, marketing, and spreadsheet analysis
  • Proficient in Word, Excel, Outlook and Power Point, as well as knowledge of database software
  • Strong comprehension of retail financial metrics and the end-to-end merchandising process
  • Strong understanding of P&L and the ability to relate it to stores’ performance
  • Strong retail knowledge and the ability to supervise a large group of associates
  • Experience in planning, record keeping, and reporting
  • Strong calculating, problem solving, quantitative analysis, projections, and statistical analysis
  • Strong decision-making skills and ability to make realistic and rational decisions based on logical assumptions and relevant facts
  • Ability to read and interpret planogram schematics
  • Excellent reasoning skills and ability to perceive opportunities and problems to be resolved, and compare and relate information of different types and from varying sources
  • Exhibit a high level of integrity and business ethics to handle sensitive and confidential information
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to effectively express ideas or instructions to others and professionally interact and communicate with individuals at all levels of the organization
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to plan, prioritize and organize a diversified workload with multiple priorities

Physical Demands

While in the office, frequent physical demands include sitting, standing, walking, dexterity, and light grasping. Occasional physical demands include lifting up to 25 lbs., bending, stooping, reaching, kneeling, squatting, climbing stairs and firmly grasping. The employee is required to accept incoming calls and must be able to hear and speak. Specific vision abilities required by this job include vision adequate for the incumbent to perform the responsibilities and functions of the job efficiently. The associate must have the manual dexterity to manually operate and use a computer and other basic office equipment.

While in the store, frequent physical demands include lifting up to 25 lbs., walking, standing, bending, reaching, dexterity and light grasping. Occasional physical demands include lifting up to and over 50 lbs., climbing stairs, squatting, and firmly grasping. The associate is required to talk and hear. Must be able to work required shifts including nights and weekends, and maintain attendance standards. Specific vision abilities required by this job include vision adequate for the incumbent to perform the responsibilities and functions of the job efficiently. The associate must have the manual dexterity to manually operate and use a computer/cash register and/or RF.

Work Environment and Working Conditions

While in the office, this position will be performed inside a climate-controlled office facility. The noise level is low to medium and typical of an office environment. Potential hazards include electrical hazards. Atmospheric conditions are typical of an office environment and may include exposure to odors and dust.

While in the store, work will normally be performed inside of the store facility; however, some work may occasionally be performed outside in conditions ranging from cold below 32 degrees to heat above 100 degrees. The work environment is usually fast paced with regular deadlines and sales expectations. Extreme noise and vibrations may occasionally be experienced. Associates may be subjected to hazards such as burns, cuts, electrical, explosive, and mechanical. Due to the nature of the work, associates may be exposed atmospheric conditions such as dust fumes, odors, and poor ventilation. For the safety of our associates, all associates may be required to wear protective devices from time to time, depending on the job/task being performed.
