POSITION PURPOSE:

The Child Development Teacher plans curriculum and organizes daily activities to provide developmentally appropriate care for children 18 months to 12 years.

What we are looking for:

• Two year or four-year degree in Early Childhood Education or elementary experience desired.
• Child Abuse Mandatory Reporter Training is required within 6 months of hire and every 5 years thereafter.
• Experience desired, but not required.
• Must have good communication skills.
• Must enjoy and be patient with children.
• Must demonstrate behaviors that enhance the perception of Mercy Medical Center in the community.
• Must have tolerance for noise.
• Must have the ability to write lesson plans.
• Must have good planning, organizational, and instructional skills.
• Must be able to accompany the children on outside field trips.
• Must earn 6 hours of continuing education in Early Childhood Education per year.
• Must practice good hygiene techniques.
• Must be flexible.
• Must have fundamental knowledge of the growth, development and discipline of children six weeks to twelve years with special emphasis on the preschool and school age child.
