Job Overview

Classification: Exempt

Reports to: Shipping Lead

Summary/Objective

Ensure the team operates efficiently by overseeing inventory placement into stock, order picking, washing, and packing for delivery. Direct and support loading and unloading of trucks and maintain organized and clean warehouse operations.

Essential Functions

  • Complete tasks and conduct behaviors consistent with promoting a standard of excellence.
  • Comply with all safety policies, practices, and procedures, and report any unsafe situations to management or human resources.
  • In-person, on-site, predictable attendance and punctuality in alignment with the position’s scheduled hours.
  • Promote an environment of continuous improvement and ensure the company's Integrated Management System’s objectives and policies are upheld.
  • Promote a culture of respect and belonging by fostering open communication, addressing concerns, celebrating achievements, and supporting team-building activities.
  • Responsible for maintaining current technical, interpersonal, and communication skills through continuous development. 
  • Progressive skills development should be cultivated through further education, seminars, company training, and other external resources such as reading material.
  • Monitors team members’ overall performance and communicates with management.
  • Works as level between team members and management to create healthy, streamlined communication.
  • Ability to identify training needs of individual team members and effectively implement.
  • Promotes an environment of continuous improvement.
  • Checks products for defects and accuracy.
  • Create daily ship list and forecast daily/weekly shipping priorities along with managing product going into stock.
  • Organizes packaging procedures to ensure safety of shipment.
  • Processes customers’ order by ensuring the right shipment is on its way.
  • Processes order based on the customer’s preferred shipping system (e.g. USPS, UPS, FedEx, etc.)
  • Supports daily Shipping Activities as required: Assembles and fills boxes and other cartons with items that need to be shipped; Affixes proper postage to each package; Pulls, washes (if applicable), packs, and ships finished goods; and Loads and unloads trucks.
  • Utilize a variety of tools and equipment such as forklift, inspection gages, scales, wash tank, and manual machines for deburring purposes keeping up with the pace of production.
  • Interact with customers and carriers in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Capacity to work well in a fast-paced environment with frequently changing dynamics.
  • Engage in maintaining the company’s Integrated Management Systems and adhere to standard operating procedures, departmental work procedures, and company policies as applicable.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace.
  • Participate in employee training programs and communication meetings.
  • Support additional tasks based on business needs within the scope of the role.

  • Technical Knowledge: Ability to read manufacturing blueprints and use shipping/logistics software.
  • Leadership & Organization: Strong ability to lead a team, manage tasks, and prioritize workflows.
  • Communication Skills: Ability to foster clear and effective communication across departments.
  • Problem-Solving: Capacity to troubleshoot shipping issues and optimize processes.
  • Customer Service: Ensures accuracy, timeliness, and quality in all customer shipments.

Physical Requirements

Heavy work: Lifting no more than 80 lbs. (team lift required) at a time with frequent lifting or carrying of objects weighing up to 50 lbs. (Company 40 lb. loaded box weight maximum enforced).

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma/GED or relevant experience
  • Forklift experience or the ability to obtain forklift certification
  • 3-5 years of shipping experience preferred
