Job Overview
- Perform routine maintenance (oil changes, filters, brake checks)
- Diagnose and repair diesel engines, transmissions, and drivetrains
- Maintain hydraulic systems (common on logging trucks and trailers)
- Inspect and repair braking systems and suspensions
- Troubleshoot electrical and diagnostic systems
- Ensure vehicles meet DOT safety regulations
- Keep maintenance records and logs
- Respond to road calls or emergency repairs when trucks break down
- Class 7–8 diesel trucks (Peterbilt, Kenworth, etc.)
- Log trailers and flatbeds
- Forklifts or yard loaders
- Chainsaws or smaller mechanical tools (sometimes)
- Experience with diesel engines (often 2–5+ years preferred)
- Knowledge of hydraulics and air brake systems
- Ability to use diagnostic software/tools
- CDL (Commercial Driver’s License) is often preferred or required
- Ability to lift heavy parts and work in shop + outdoor conditions
