Description:
MercyOne is looking for a positive and energetic Ultrasonographer to join our circle of care. Use your knowledge and skill to full potential as a critical member of our Imaging team working closely with radiologists and other imaging personnel.
MercyOne offers competitive pay rates and shift differential, $10,000 sign on bonus, as well as our new and improved pay scale. Under limited direction of the Director/Supervisor and with medical direction of the radiologist, carries out appropriate ultrasound procedures and maintains related records; provides general assistant to the radiologist in interpreting studies and provides technical instruction to students and hospital staff. The age of the patients served range from infants to geriatrics.
Must be registered with the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS). If not registered, just be board-eligible and pass sonography boards (abdomen and OB) within one year of hire. Must be ARDMS registered in vascular technology or obtain within 12 months of hire. Prefer prior sonography experience.
POSITION PURPOSE:
Under limited direction of the Director/Supervisor and with medical direction of the radiologist, carries out appropriate ultrasound procedures and maintains related records; provides general assistant to the radiologist in interpreting studies and provides technical instruction to students and hospital staff. The age of the patients served range from infants to geriatrics.
SCOPE OF SERVICE:
Customers include: patient, family/visitors, co-workers/volunteers, nurses, physicians, and vendors, as well as, regulatory commissioning agents.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

2. Maintains a working knowledge of applicable Federal, State and local laws and regulations, Trinity Health’s Organizational Integrity Program, Standards of Conduct, as well as other policies and procedures in order to ensure adherence in a manner that reflects honest, ethical and professional behavior.
3. Performs other duties consistent with purpose of job as directed.
4. Demonstrates a customer focused/professional behavioral at all times.
5. Demonstrates knowledge of office procedures and duties within the Radiology Department.
6. Performs quality ultrasound procedures by utilizing proper positioning skills and technical factors, as well as, a knowledge of anatomical structures pertinent to the patient population of infants to geriatrics.
7. Practices proper safety techniques in accordance with prescribed safety standards in regards to self, patients.
8. Checks requisitions and charts to confirm the correct examination and obtain any other information needed prior to performing the examination.
9. Verifies correct patient using two patient identifiers before beginning a procedure.
10. Maintains daily supplies in assigned work area and recommends reordering of items.
11. Informs patients of examinations being performed and obtains consent to perform procedure.
12. Transports patients to and from Radiology as needed.
13. Demonstrates activities to impact change within the department and with other departments.
14. Promotes and establishes effective relationships within the department, with other departments, physicians, and with hospital guests and clients.
15. Takes an active role in enhancing abilities to carry out job functions through personal and professional/job-related growth and development.
16. Maintains the standard continuing education requirements.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
1. Must have advanced knowledge of radiation safety standards.
2. Must be certified in Basic Life Support.
3. Must be able to provide direction to and supervision of other employees.
4. Must have minimum typing skills.
5. Must have a high degree of independent decision-making ability.
6. Must be able to work well with patients, visitors, and staff and possess good communication skills.
7. Must have knowledge of sterile technique.
8. Must be able to perform basic math.
9. Possess strong interpersonal skills and demonstrate the ability to effectively work with other hospital employees and guests in a helpful, courteous manner.
10. Must be competent to provide care within assigned unit to the population described in the unit's description of services.
PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:
1. In an 8-hour day, employee must sit 1 hour, stand 5 hours and walk 2 hours.
2. Job requires frequent (21%-50% of work time) bending, stooping, squatting, reaching, pushing and pulling.
3. Frequently (21%-50% of work time) subjected to interruptions and changing work priorities.
4. Job requires the occasional lifting and carrying of objects weighing approximately 50 lbs.
5. Daily chance of minimal exposure to ionizing radiation.
6. Job requires the use of hands for repetitive action such as simple grasping, firm grasping and fine manipulating.
7. Must be able to see at a near vision acuity level.
8. Must be able to speak.
9. Must be able to hear speech.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
(EDUCATION, LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED):
1. Education and Licensure:
