Job Overview

Are you looking for a part-time, rewarding job, for some extra cash on the weekends? Area Residential Care is now hiring for part-time 1st, 2nd, or 3rd shift employees to be direct support staff on the weekends. The Weekend Instructors are trained to help our individuals with disabilities in their homes and are also trained to coach our individuals while they are working! A typical day of a Weekend Instructor would consist of practicing daily life skills with our individuals, assisting with personal hygiene care, going on outings, and doing different fun activities. For the inidivuals who have their own jobs, the Weekend Instructor will go with them to work and help coach them on their working skills.

Area Residential Care offers a variety of perks including a $4.00 wage differential on weekends. A $1500.00 retention bonus and a $1000.00 referral bonus.

A highly qualified Weekend Instructor will have:

  • A valid driver's license
  • A high school diploma or GED
  • 6 months of consecutive work experience
  • A passion for helping others
  • All weekend instructors making 14.00 will get the 4.00 differential making the wage 18.00 per hour. Includes shifts from Friday night at 11:00 Pm to Monday at 7:00AM

Who We Are

Area Residential Care is a private, non-profit, 501(c) 3 organization, created in 1968 by a group of parents and other interested parties. Its mission is to empower people with intellectual disabilities to achieve their highest quality of life. From its inception, Area Residential Care’s purpose has been to provide community-based services for persons with intellectual disabilities. The organization has grown over the past 40 years to serve an average of 250-275 people with disabilities annually; providing residential, vocational, and day services in Dubuque and Dyersville communities.
