Yard Laborer

Job Overview

The Yard Laborer is responsible for yard maintenance, equipment inspection, and general upkeep tasks. In addition, the Yard Laborer will assist with various duties as assigned by the Director of Maintenance.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Organize parking areas by moving semi-trucks to the designated parking area.
• Assist with the pickup and delivery of parts and drivers as required.
• Thump and check tires for flatness, baldness, or other issues, and provide the shop supervisor with a list of tires needing attention.
• Inspect glad hand seals and replace any that are worn or damaged, noting the respective trailer for billing purposes.
• Disassemble and properly store any tires marked for dismounting in designated areas or the garbage area.
• Keep the extra equipment area tidy, storing straps, chains, tarps, bungees, etc. Report low stock to the shop supervisor.
• Conduct thorough inspections of all trucks entering the yard, ensuring compliance with DOT regulations; promptly report any damages or necessary repairs to your supervisor or road repair team.
• Detail trucks and trailers when needed.
• Perform maintenance duties such as painting walls or facility pieces, maintaining grass and weed control, and conducting general repairs of buildings as needed.
• Check company cars regularly for maximum performance. Check oil, tire pressure, fluid levels, and wiper blades.
• Additional duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow instructions.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Good physical stamina to perform tasks that involve lifting and moving objects.
• Basic knowledge of vehicle maintenance and repairs is a plus.
• Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
• Class A CDL Preferred.

$18.00-$26.00 per hour
