Job Overview
Your Responsibilities
As a Youth Care Worker, you are responsible for providing compassionate and effective care and support to adolescents within the residential facilities. This role involves direct supervision, behavior management and crisis intervention. The Youth Care Worker collaborates with a multidisciplinary team to create a safe, supportive environment for the adolescents. In addition, you will be:
- Cultivates a meaningful relationship with each client in residence while maintaining appropriate boundaries.
- Assists with therapeutic groups under the direction of the Adolescent Residential Treatment Counselor.
- Participates in client care conferences.
- Completes documentation that meets current standards and policies.
- Ensures that sufficient time is structured into each day for the completion of homework or school assignments.
- Accompanies the clients to medical and dental appointments, providing support and explaining procedures in understandable terms. Escorts clients when leaving the unit for activities and scheduled appointments.
- Works professionally with families, referral workers, and other community contacts.
- Other duties as assigned.

What You Need
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED or NCR accepted)
- Must be 18 years of age
- Acceptable agency driver
- Strong written and verbal communication skill
- Basic computer/keyboarding skills

- Bachelor's degree in a human service field or ability to meet BHIS credentials
- One year experience working with adolescents

Hillcrest provides residential treatment programs for behaviorally challenged teens that are highly respected and nationally accredited. We are one of only a few providers in the State of Iowa that provides a full continuum of residential services on one beautifully landscaped campus with excellent facilities, located in Dubuque, Iowa. These continuum of services include: supervised apartment living, a dual-diagnosis Psychiatric Medical Institution for Children (PMIC), therapy and medication management, and Integrated Health Home programming.
