Since 1983, Hospice of Dubuque has existed for the sole purpose of fulfilling its mission of providing compassionate care for the seriously ill and their loved ones. At Hospice of Dubuque, the community’s nonprofit hospice, all decisions are guided by this mission.

Every Hospice of Dubuque team member is focused on fulfilling the organization’s mission of providing compassionate care for the seriously ill and their loved ones. This special care team is comprised of exceptional individuals—talented and dedicated professionals who inspire respect and admiration among their peers and those they serve. To the patients and their families, the Hospice of Dubuque Interdisciplinary Team provides comfort and closure during one of life’s most vulnerable times. Working in hospice is more than a career choice; it is a calling. And, although it is emotionally challenging work, ask any of our team members and they will tell you, that the rewards are endless.

Our Mission

In 1983, a promise was made to the tri-state area. That year, with a small team of nurses and community volunteers, Hospice of Dubuque began serving the greater Dubuque community. The promise was then and still is now, a mission to provide compassionate care for persons with serious illness and their loved ones.

Our Vision

Hospice of Dubuque will advance hospice and palliative care in the tri-states through collaboration, education, stewardship, and dedication to mission-driven care.

Hospice Philosophy

Hospice affirms life and recognizes dying as a part of the process of living. Hospice exists to provide support and care for persons in the last phases of an incurable disease so that they may live as fully and comfortably as possible. Hospice neither hastens nor postpones death. Hospice exists in the hope and belief that through appropriate care and the promotion of a caring community sensitive to their needs, clients and families will be helped during the processes of dying and grieving.
