- Must have current and valid Registered Nurse License from the State of Wisconsin.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or ability to obtain immediately after hire required.
- Basic proficiency in word processing and Excel programs; software proficiency covering a variety of health care/clinical record applications.
Work Hours
We are seeking a full-time (36 hour/week) RN to work weekdays from 7:30am-5pm.
Job Summary
The Registered Nurse (RN) – Dermatology/Specialty Float provides high-quality, patient-centered care in an outpatient ambulatory setting in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act and supervision of a licensed physician, physician's assistant, and/or nurse practitioner. RN will be floating between dermatology and various specialty clinics as needed. This role supports physicians and other care team members by delivering direct and indirect nursing care, coordinating patient care activities, and ensuring clinical workflows operate efficiently across multiple specialties. Applicant performs a variety of direct patient care duties in compliance with physicians' orders and appropriate protocol. Performs a variety of indirect patient care duties under the supervision of the Clinic Manager or Director. Reviews and prepares clinical records prior to clinic dates to ensure referring physicians' notes and corresponding reports are available for the reference by the specialist.
Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities

- Performs patient screening assessment and provides nursing care in the clinic or procedure room as appropriate including interviewing the patient to obtain their medical history and chief complaint, performing medication reconciliation and obtaining patients' vitals.
- Prepares the patient for exams and/or procedures, provides patient education related to planned procedures, and ensures necessary consents are obtained.
- Triage patients in-person and via phone, assessing needs and escalating appropriately.
- Administer medications and treatments in accordance with clinical protocols.
- Assists physician / provider with examination, treatment and designated procedures performed in the Clinic, including but not limited to perform procedures such as biopsies, cryotherapy, wound care, injections, cystoscopies, allergy testing, Mohs procedures, pelvic exams, colposcopies, catheter changes, etc.
- Makes contacts to appropriate care areas to schedule patients for follow-up tests and/or procedures.
- Performs routine maintenance and cleaning of clinic equipment as appropriate.
- Verifies that patient care areas of procedural/outpatient clinic have been cleaned and stocked and equipment returned to appropriate areas following completion of clinics/procedures.
- Encourages and educates clinical staff regarding adherence to the standards of rooming the patient and expectations set forth by the department.
- Complies with the requirements set forth by the organization of whom the specialist is associated with regarding rooming standards, quality compliance, and standardization of the organization.
- Adheres to Southwest Health’s value-based behavior standards.
- Understands and adheres to Southwest Health compliance and HIPAA standards as they appear in the Corporate Compliance Policy, Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest Policy.
