Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of one to two years’ food preparation experience, preferably in a healthcare setting.
  • Experience with standard kitchen equipment including steamers, steam table, robot coupe, ovens, dish machines, slicers, etc. required.
  • Food prep experience including main dishes, side dishes, salads, desserts, and special function foods required.
  • Certification with the State of Wisconsin for food protection policies and Food Manager Certification (or willingness to complete within one year of employment) preferred.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Electronic Medical Record, and food purveyor software helpful.
  • Experience handling money and balancing cash drawer.

Work Hours

We are seeking a full-time (40 hours/ week) Cook to work weekdays with an every other weekend and holiday rotation.

​Weekday shifts (6:45am- 3:15pm): Will work as a Cold Line Cook, responsible for assembling grab-and-go items, maintaining the salad bar, and preparing deli sandwiches.

Weekend shifts (11:00am- 7:30pm): Will work as the Main Line Cook, responsible for preparing patient meal trays, assisting customers in the cafeteria, and supervising food service worker employees.

Job Summary

The cook prepares food for the residents, patients, guests and employees.  They oversee other food service workers and prepare appropriate food (therapeutic and texture modified) for each patient or resident.  The cook is responsible to open the department and/or close the department in the absence of the Lead Cook and follows appropriate sanitation and safety procedures.
