Position summary:

This role supports multiple teams and states across the company allowing for opportunity to collaborate and understand our business from a centralized function. You’ll be a valued team member in a highly cross functional environment that is involved with development & support of financial forecasting and budgeting processes across the company. Performing quantitative analysis of financial data within business units and departments. Preparation of internal financial reporting, supporting business cases presented to senior leaders of the company and adhoc special projects with the ability to take ownership and drive results.

Pay Range: $77,450 – $116,200 (This posting includes the full pay range for this position. Pay is based on a number of factors and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and internal equity.)

Reporting Relationship: Financial Planning & Analysis Manager

Essential Functions:
•    Assist in the development of models for the evaluation of new business alternatives that incorporate analysis of key variables.
•    Assist in developing and maintaining financial plan (budget and strategic plan) which can be used as a basis for variance analysis against actuals.
•    Assist in developing and maintaining logical and flexible financial models that produce a full set of financial statements utilizing existing tools and software in an efficient manner.
•    Assist in evaluating the accuracy of forecast vs. actual results and refine process to the point that it serves as an instrument of financial control in the close process and guides and supports business decisions.
•    Perform financial and operational calculation regarding metrics based on key business drivers that provide necessary insight to assist management’s business decision making as directed.
•    Analyze and interpret company financial forecasts and results as directed.
•    Drive continuous improvement of financial analysis, reporting, forecasting, budgeting and planning as directed.
•    Support financial forecasting processes and monthly analyses of financial results.
•    Supporting the financial budgeting software; including design, build, testing, and training of other users in the software.

Additional Responsibilities:
•    Develop strong understanding of the company’s strategy and business model, including regulatory principles and FERC and GAAP accounting.
•    Establish strong relationships across the company to advance effective communication and coordination across departments and companies. Assist various internal departments to develop and implement the company’s strategic plan.
•    Support non-financially backgrounded teams with forecasting, budgeting, and analysis to drive predictable, accurate results.

What Is Required:
•    Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Engineering or relevant field or equivalent combination of education and experience
•    Minimum of 3 years of experience in accounting, finance, regulatory or related field

Position summary:

In this role the Operations Welder Technician will safely perform general gas distribution system maintenance, operation, and all facets of construction including welding installation of steel and polyethylene mains, fabrication of metering facilities.

Pay Range: $28.75 – $43.17 per hour (This posting includes the full pay range for this position. Pay is based on a number of factors and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and internal equity.)

Reporting Relationship: Gas Operations Supervisor

Location: Harrison, Arkansas

Essential Functions:
•    Coordinates the location of other utilities underground facilities relative to construction activities.
•    Install facilities according to specifications such as trench depth/width, proper auguring, plowing and shoring.
•    Inspect and supervise construction activities of gas contract construction crews.
•    Maintain pipeline welding certifications and perform plastic fusion of mains and services and proper installation of mechanical fittings.
•    Responsible for performing and inspecting pipeline and structural welding required for construction and maintenance of company facilities including the installation, operation and maintenance of all gas pipeline related facilities.
•    Perform governmental compliance activities (PHMSA, State Agencies, EPA, USFS, etc.)
•    Responsible for locating, coating, mapping, hot tapping, stopping, installing, relocating, replacing, maintaining, and repairing gas lines. Inspect pipeline and structural welding required for construction and maintenance of company facilities including the installation, operation and maintenance of distribution and transmission facilities.
•    Provide oversight and inspection to ensure asset protection and compliance with company procedures of excavation activities near pipeline facilities.
•    Responsible for inspection duties per company policies including completion of required documentation, as-built drawings, contractor oversight and supervision, act as company representative during construction activities, report progress to Operations Management and ensure accurate reporting and compliance with Safety and Environmental policies.

Additional Responsibilities:
•    Perform general customer service activity including, but not limited to, turn-ons and turn-offs, replace meters, collect unpaid bills, investigate calls regarding gas leaks and carbon monoxide presence.
•    Scheduled on-call rotation.
•    Perform and train others in the safe and efficient operation of gas distribution systems.

What Is Required:
•    High School Diploma or equivalent
•    Welding certification required within 4 months of hire.
•    This position requires driving responsibilities. You must hold and maintain a valid driver’s license and a driving record that meets company and insurer standards.
•    This role will be required to travel up to 50% of the time.

What Is Desired:
•    Comprehensive understanding of gas distribution construction, maintenance, system operations and safety procedures.
•    Knowledge of odorization, meter sizing and general construction practices.
•    Ability to read prints, layout projects and fabricate work, while meeting Black Hills Construction Standards.
•    Ability to make required spontaneous decisions during emergency conditions that may affect the safety of other employees, contractors, and the public.
•    Knowledge of basic properties of metals and plastic pipeline materials.
•    Knowledge and experience in safe handling practices of flammable gases, liquids and high-pressure systems.
•    Operate all plastic fusion equipment including all tools required for maintenance and emergency on plastic pipelines.
•    Operate micrometers, calipers, and thickness testing equipment.
•    Ability to maintain a valid driver’s license with a safe driving record to allow operation of company vehicles.
•    Obtain or maintain required AP 1104 steel welding certification.
•    Ability to obtain and maintain PE fusion certificate.

Essential Functions:
•    Assist with research, development, testing, and implementation of security plans, products, and control techniques.

Level II: $28.75 – $43.17 per hour

Reporting Relationship: Gas Operations Supervisor

Location: Papillion, Nebraska

Essential Functions:
•    Respond to natural gas emergencies, complete natural gas construction activities, and perform service work as needed.
•    Perform leak repair on underground facilities using approved repair methods and materials based on type of sizes of mains and services.
•    Accurately and effectively perform pipeline locating; oversee third party excavation and line crossings.
•    Install new commercial and residential meter sets and maintain established natural gas assets (i.e., regulators, meter, vent piping, service risers, etc.)
•    Inspect and supervise construction activities of gas contract construction crews.
•    Complete pipeline patrols, leak detections surveys, and inspections per company procedures.
•    Required to work scheduled on-call rotation and ability to work non-traditional hours after adequate training.

Additional Responsibilities:
•    Provide recommendations on proper material type and size to accommodate load requirements and pressure.
•    Perform hot line tapping of mains and services of various sizes and type by selection of proper equipment and using correct procedures.
•    Maintain certification and perform plastic fusion of mains and services and proper installation of mechanical fittings.

What Is Required:
Level I: 
•    High School Diploma or equivalent.
Level II: 
•    High School Diploma or equivalent
•    Minimum of 2 years of experience in natural gas, construction, maintenance, or other related experience is required.
Senior:

What Is Desired:
•    An understanding of basic gas operating systems and procedures.
•    Possess ability to read and understand operation manuals and have a solid understanding of regulators, meters, and pipefitting.
•    Strong mechanical aptitude on related equipment.
•    Be able to work independently and show initiative.
•    Ability to achieve and maintain all operator qualifications (OQs), and progression requirements applicable to the job classification.
•    Ability to successfully perform multiple tasks with strict deadlines.
•    Operate work equipment including but not limited to power tools, hand tools, and specialized instruments used in pipeline operations, maintenance, and repair of facilities.
•    Organize equipment and perform regular preventative maintenance.

Position summary:

In this important role you will provide cost effective diaphragm, rotary and/or turbine meter repair and testing services for a six state territory to ensure accurate measurement of gas volumes sold. Duties are to be performed within established company, industry and safety practices, guidelines or procedures.

Pay Range: $27.66 – $33.73 (Determined by the current Collective Bargaining Agreement)

Reporting Relationship: Meter Shop Manager

Location: Council Bluffs, Iowa

Essential Functions:
•    Performs meter tests, determines repair classifications, and calibrates different types and manufactures of diaphragm, rotary and/or turbine meters using automated and computerized proving equipment.
•    Inputs meter data into the system by way of prover mounted keypad and uploads data collected on a PC to the mainframe computer or utilize transfer prover or to test on a daily basis.
•    Trouble shoots and repairs different types and manufactures of diaphragm, rotary and/or turbine meters.
•    Test meters for case leaks, repairs leaks as found and prepares meters for repainting.
•    Completes appropriate documents for the necessary tracking of individual production.
•    Maintains shop equipment associated with job duties. Keeps workplace in a neat and orderly manner. Operates forklift to systematically organize baskets and pallets of meters.
•    Performs quality control inspections on new or remanufactured equipment.
•    Attend safety meetings and other employee training as assigned.
•    Performs other duties, which are similar, related or incidental to this position and may work as directed, in other activities that require skills of a higher classification if qualified, as per Article 15 Section 3.
•    Must comply with Company’s Motor Vehicle Operation Policy and Procedure.

What Is Required:

Position summary:

To provide complete customer service activities relative to sale, installation, repair and service of service equipment, in addition to a broad range of gas and electric appliances. Also maintain Natural Gas Distribution system to provide safe, reliable, energy to both residential and commercial/industrial customers.

Pay Range: $31.65 – $41.64 per hour (Determined by the current Collective Bargaining Agreement)

Reporting Relationship: Supervisor, Gas Operations

Location: Grimes, Iowa

Essential Functions:
•    Installs and repairs service equipment plus both gas and electric appliances for residential and commercial customers. Visually examines appliances for defects, performs diagnostic tests applying mechanical, electrical and gas theory or principles to determine cause of malfunction; repair, adjust or replace components.
•    Promotes customer acceptance of non-regulated company programs such as Service Guard products and services. Resolves unusual service problems and customer complaints, providing cost estimates and recommendations on complex or uncommon malfunctions of customer owned appliances.
•    Locates gas services and mains for construction projects. Performs leak detection and cathodic protection activities and installs domestic, commercial and industrial meters and pressure regulating equipment.
•    When required, reads customer meters on a scheduled basis, contacts customers concerning collection of delinquent accounts and performs gas meter turn on and shut off activities in accordance with company policy.
•    Provides requested after hours (on call) services as required. Responds to all emergency requests, i.e.: reported gas leaks, suspected carbon monoxide, simulations, outages, etc., in accordance with Company policies and procedures.
•    Installs, removes and replaces gas meters, performs line locates, leak survey repairs, turn-on and turn-off activities according to company policies and reads meters as required.
•    Attend safety meetings and other employee training as assigned.
•    May participate in community relations activities.
•    Performs other duties, which are similar, related or incidental to this position and may work as directed, in other activities that require skills of a higher classification if qualified, as per Article 15 Section 3.

Position summary:

This important role will coordinate, schedule and provide field supervision for all distribution line construction, maintenance and design of projects. This position will also provide customer service requirements on specific divisions within our Black Hills Energy electrical distribution systems.

Reporting Relationship: Electric Operations Manager

Essential Functions:
•    Requires proven management, technical skills, labor/employee relations, cross functional coordination and problem solving, innovative contractor and project management, budget management, cost/benefit sensitivity and a community presence.
•    Ensure customer service work is being accomplished in an effective manner and customer expectations are consistently met. Required to work with customer on billing issue and power quality complaints.
•    Assist Operations Manager and Utility Construction Planners with preparation of work orders. Work with the estimating and engineering departments to ensure the lowest cost possible for our customers and shareholders.
•    Participate in the budget process of the Electric Operations Department. Monitor Electric Operations Department’s cost expenditures and variances on a regular basis.
•    Coordinate scheduled maintenance of equipment and tools used by assigned personnel and ensure employees are accurately preparing records for input into the various Company systems such as the time system and mapping.
•    Support the implementation and compliance of various electronic systems used by field crews.
•    Provide property owner interface for access to distribution facilities, coordination of ROW damage claims and customer complaints. Handle Third Party Damages, Street Lights, Line Crews, Service Trucks, Bore Crew, Locators and Power Quality.
•    Supervise Field employees and maintain positive relationships with employees, customers, contractors, community and business leaders, peers and management.

Additional Responsibilities:
•    Must understand the difference between capital and O&M expenses and have the ability to manage the budget between the two correctly.
•    Teamwork/Collaboration – Recognizes the value of teamwork and embraces collaboration. Cultivates a spirit of partnership, cooperation, trust and valuing diversity, in pursuing solutions to meet goals.
•    Respond to after-hours emergencies related to the electric distribution system. Available for after-hours call out for responses to electric distribution system emergencies and participate in rotational after-hours standby duties and accompany line crews to storms in other states.

Location: Wichita, Kansas

Essential Functions:
•    Provide recommendations on proper material type and size to accommodate load requirements and pressure.
•    Insure accurate location and installation of facilities such as service lines, mains and meter sets.
•    Proficient in underground line locating.
•    Above and underground leak classification and repairs.
•    Gas measurement, pressure regulation and over pressure protection installations.
•    Install facilities according to specifications such as trench depth/width, proper auguring, plowing and shoring.
•    Perform hot line tapping of mains and services of various sizes and type by selection of proper equipment and using correct procedures.
•    Perform leak repair on underground facilities using approved repair methods and materials based on type of sizes of mains and services.
•    Maintain certification and perform plastic fusion of mains and services and proper installation of mechanical fittings.
•    Perform Walking Gas Leak Survey with an Instrument.
•    Perform Odorant Checks and Preform Maintenance on Odorizers.
•    Perform CP Checks.

Additional Responsibilities:
•    Perform pressure testing of facilities to ensure integrity and satisfy company and Regulatory requirements and proper above grade corrosion control by application of recommended painting techniques and material, also below grade corrosion control and anode installation surface preparation and coating applications.
•    Inspect and supervise construction activities of gas contract construction crews.
•    Other duties as required.

What Is Required:
Level I: 
•    High School Diploma or equivalent.
Level II:

•    Minimum of 2 years of experience in natural gas, construction, maintenance, or other related experience is required.
Senior:

An Apprentice Lineman shall have ambition to become a journeyman lineman and will work and study the apprentice training courses with an end goal of becoming Department of Labor certified. He/she shall pass the examination as required by the internal Black Hills Energy Joint Apprenticeship Committee (JAC) Standards.

Pay Range: $43.82 – $54.42 per hour (Determined by the current Collective Bargaining Agreement)

Reporting Relationship: Electric Operations Supervisor

Location: Canon City, Colorado

Essential Functions:
•    Required to work safely and follow all safety policies.
•    Must pass all apprenticeship lessons according to JAC apprenticeship and construction standards in order to complete all required duties and responsibilities of a Journeyman Lineman once training is complete.
•    Required to follow the guidance of Journeyman Lineman and Foreman that are Department of Labor certified and are therefore responsible for conducting training.

Additional Responsibilities:
•    Must be able to work outside, in extreme weather and temperature for extended periods of time.
•    This position may also include some travel for specialized training to other Black Hills Energy locations and for mutual aid storm work.
•    Required to work stand-by as an outage first responder.
•    Willing to stay overnight out of town and be available to travel as projects require.
•    Willing to work overtime for after-hours callouts and extended days.
•    Requires the ability to learn and follow all Construction and Operating Standards, Company Policies and Safety Practices.
•    Must be able to complete OSHA and Joint Apprenticeship Committee requirements as outlined.

What Is Required:
•    High School Diploma or equivalent
Must be a current 3rd Step Apprentice Lineman able to work with energized secondary. 
•    Completion of a qualified Lineman Technician program is required upon hire. 
•    CDL – Group A – Commercial Drivers License valid in Colorado within 90 days of hire.

•    Requires the ability to learn and follow all Construction and Operating Standards, Company Policies and Safety Practices.
