POSITION PURPOSE

Scholarships for the EICC Sonography Program!

Medical Associates, the area’s leading healthcare provider multispecialty group practice based out of Dubuque, Iowa is currently offering a competitive scholarship opportunity for Sonography students.

Scholarships are available for students who have enrolled in the Eastern Iowa Community College’s (EICC) Sonography program for Fall 2026. EICC has partnered with NICC to allow Dubuque area students the opportunity to take all prerequisite program courses and required general education courses through NICC, either in person or online before transferring to EICC to complete the Sonography program.

Sonography (also referred to as Ultrasound or US) is a two-year (20 month) program. Ideal candidates possess strong organizational skills, the ability to multi-task and a high level of professionalism. Individuals will be helpful and courteous to all team members while creating a positive work environment.

What does a Sonographer do:

As a Sonographer at Medical Associates, you will be responsible for scanning appropriate areas of the body to produce images as requested, performing preliminary assessments, documenting patient histories and providing the interpreting physician with preliminary findings. Duties will also include patient education, archiving imagery, and performing instrument maintenance which includes troubleshooting and repair.

Scholarship Details:

Fully funded tuition for the US program (valued up to $18,000!) at NICC and EICC Sonography program beginning August 2026.

NICC students will complete general prerequisite coursework at NICC and then complete the remaining sonography program at EICC’s Scott Community College Campus in Bettendorf , Iowa. The program includes classroom instruction as well as clinical and lab experiences.

National certification exam fee paid after completion of the program, through the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) – certification due within 6 months of program completion.
Students must maintain an overall good standing with the school (attendance, behaviors, etc.) and must earn at least a 78% in each course.
Scholarship recipient shall be hired and begin work in a full-time position at Medical Associates upon successful completion of the program.

Medical Associates will cover the cost of tuition, books, and exam fees not covered by other federal, state, institutional and private awards including Federal Pell Grant and Last Dollar Scholar. In other words, we will cover the remaining fees after all other federal, state, and private funding has been applied. (Note: Currently the Iowa Last Dollar Scholar program is available for the EICC component of this coursework and Iowa residents should apply.)

NICC/EICC Sonography Partnership Program: In order to be considered for our scholarship, you must apply and be accepted into the EICC Sonography program. Experience: Customer Service or healthcare experience preferred. Helpful academic background (but not required) include biology, chemistry, and mathematics.

Medical Associates Clinic is hiring a part time, or PRN Ultrasonographer to join our general or cardiac imaging team! This person will be working with our excellent sonography team in a fast-paced environment to provide high quality patient care. This position is idea for someone seeking flexible hours while contributing to a patient-focused clinical team.

Schedule: Sonographers cover shifts during normal business hours, Monday through Friday. No weekends, No Evenings, No Holidays, No Call!

The Position:

Scan appropriate areas of the body and produce images as requested by the ordering physician; recognize and understand the pathophysiologic changes as detected by ultrasound to perform preliminary assessment for the interpreting radiologist/physician.
Perform and document a complete patient history as it relates to the procedure ordered inclusive of pertinent clinical indications; review exam procedure with the patient and answer any pertinent questions related to the exam.
Review images for technical quality and diagnostic usefulness; process and store images for physician interpretation and permanent archiving.
Assist radiologist and other physicians in the performance of interventional/invasive procedures; practice sterile and aseptic techniques as necessary.
Perform necessary equipment calibrations and maintenance as recommended by the manufacturer; monitor and maintain appropriate supplies for the department.
Complete all other assigned projects and duties.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: 

Experience: One to three years of similar or related experience. 

Education: Equivalent to a college degree. Certified by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS).

Responsibilities

The Maintenance Technician will provide repair and maintenance of the agency properties and equipment, cover the areas of appliance and equipment, heating and cooling, basic plumbing techniques, and furniture/office setup. Maintenance Technicians will be required to work in the outdoor elements that could include hot or cold weather, rain, snow, or dry conditions. In addition, you will:

Check the heating and cooling cycles as seasons change.
Clean and inspect boilers and check safety switches.
Clean and oil central air conditioning units.
Clean clothes dryer interiors and vents.
Lubricate blower motors, recirculation pumps, exhaust fan motors.
Check and change furnace filters monthly.
Clean the refrigerator and freezer coils.
Clean, lube, and check window air conditioners.
Clean water heater burners and check safety switches.
Perform routine and preventative maintenance on appliances. Perform appliance repairs when possible.
Perform minor lock repairs and locksmithing.
Change light bulbs, ballast and/or light fixtures as needed.
Clear clogged toilets and/or sewer lines as needed.
Perform minor plumbing and electrical repairs.
Maintain grounds by performing lawn care, snow removal, light tree trimming, and landscaping work as needed.
Perform routine maintenance and repairs on lawn and snow equipment.

Perform monthly PMs (GFI, fire extinguishers, emergency lights, timer motors, exhaust fans and vents, lube pumps, utility checks, generator test, refrigerator coils cleaned).
Provide support in office setup and moves.
Repair damage to the buildings and furniture when possible.
Assist Housekeeping staff as needed.
Fill supply orders for RE and Adult Group Homes and maintain inventory by reordering stock.
Schedule appointments with vendors as needed.
Participate in on-call rotation.
Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Education:

High School Diploma or equivalent required.

Experience:

Previous experience in maintenance work preferred.
Experience and/or the ability to perform trouble-shooting tasks on appliances and equipment.

Knowledge/Skills:

Skilled and knowledgeable in appliances, heating, cooling, electrical, and plumbing.

1-3 years of experience in transportation, logistics, or a related field
Knowledge of transportation regulations, safety protocols, and driver management
Strong communication and leadership skills
Ability to effectively manage a team, resolve conflicts, and handle multiple priorities
Experience with route planning, scheduling, and driver performance tracking
Proficient in using logistics and route optimization software, as well as Microsoft Office Suite

As a Planner with Hirschbach your expectation is to ensure freight ships in accordance with customer and carrier specifications while keeping Hirschbach operator interests in mind. The Planner successfully matches trucks and freight ensuring a freight balance.
Duties & Responsibilities

Plans freight and equipment in assigned regions and/or account for maximum utilization and profitability.
Pre-plans freight that allows for on time pick-up and delivery.
Check-calling, relaying, and re-powering all assigned driver freight to customer and carrier agreed specifications.
Manages trailer pool.
Collaborates with Driver Managers to coordinate Hirschbach operators’ scheduled home time, down time, current status, and predicted time available.
Builds and maintains professional and positive relationships with Hirschbach operators, operations team members, and customers.
Communicates any PTA and routing issues that may lead to service issues.
Confirms T-Called loads are planned to deliver on-time.
Creates plans of action (POA) to increase lane profitability and service percentages. Updates POAs with concerns/delays.
Attends meetings related to customers and occasionally travels to visit customer sites and terminal locations.
Other duties as assigned including proactively assisting others in achieving the organization’s objectives.
Trains and develops Planner Is and Planner IIs.
Supervises and leads direct reports.
Supports the planning and oversight of 500+ loads per week
Consistently achieves low deadhead miles to maximize overall profitability
Displays an expert level knowledge of Hours of Service
Serves as a Point of Contact for key customers and oversees customer accounts and geographic areas.
Handles customer complaints and inquiries.
Displays an expert level understanding of Hirschbach operations and how the freight network functions.
Demonstrates expert AS400 proficiencies and can enter data accurately

Talent Requirements and Skills

High school diploma or equivalent, paired with relevant professional experience.
Bachelor’s Degree in Transportation/Logistics/Supply Chain, or a related field is preferred.
Ability to process information with high levels of accuracy and energy.
Ability to multi-task and prioritize workload.
Computer proficiency and ability to navigate between multiple programs.
Demonstrates an “All In to Win” attitude and displays self-motivation and a strong desire to learn within an unpredictable and demanding environment.
