As a Nurse Assistant at MercyOne, the Nurse Assistant (NA) is a member of the MercyOne Dubuque/Dyersville Medical Center healthcare team and is under the direct supervision of a registered professional nurse.  NAs provide holistic, compassionate, individualized, and effective patient care by assisting the patient with activities of daily living. Schedule:

  • 20 hours per week (0.5 FTE)

  • Flexible between 8-hour or 12-hour shifts. If working 8-hours, working hours will be 6:00am – 2:30pm. If working 12-hours, working hours will be 6:00am – 6:30pm.

  • Every third weekend and holiday rotation

General Requirements:

All Nurse Assistants (other than Senior Care):

  • Must be at least 16 years of age, Child labor laws are applicable to all minors under the age of 18. May be required to be 18 years of age in some area.

  • Must meet at least one of the following requirements:

    • Be active on the Iowa registry (required for long term care nurse assistants in Iowa, and nurse assistants who work in Illinois or Wisconsin are required to be on their respective state’s registry)

    • Show proof of completion of 75-hour CNA course

    • Show proof of EMT Certification

    • Show proof of formally holding (and completed training for) a medical occupation specialty from the military (current or former)

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred. 

  • Child and Dependent Adult Abuse Mandatory Reporter Training is required within 6 months of hire and every 3 years thereafter.

  • Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) will be required within 30 days of hire and every 2 years thereafter.

Senior Care Nurse Assistant:

  • Must be at least 16 years of age, Child labor laws are applicable to all minors under the age of 18. May required to be 18 years of age in some area.

  • Certification in a 75-hour CNA certification program required and be active on the Iowa registry (required for long-term care nurse assistant in Iowa).

  •  Provides direction to leaders in areas within scope of responsibility – with a strong emphasis on coaching and development relative to MercyOne leadership competencies.

    • Professional knowledge of product line services and management principles, procedures, and techniques as normally acquired through completion of master’s degree and/or relevant experience.
    • Approximately four to six years progressively responsible health care related work experience, with at least two years in a supervisory role, to gain comprehensive knowledge of the health care environment and applicable laws and regulations as well as the ability to organize and direct work of nursing, technical and support staff.
    • Thorough knowledge of the health care system and knowledge of operations.  Strong understanding of financial principles and practices.  Acts as a catalyst for change to continuously improve existing systems and add new programs and services to better meet the needs of our customers.

Medical Associates is looking to hire a Summer Temp Phlebotomist to join our Laboratory team! This position offers on the job training for someone that is new to phlebotomy.

Location: Shifts will rotate being scheduled at the East and West Campus Lab departments. 

The Role:

  • Collect laboratory specimens from patients of all age groups and instruct patients for special laboratory testing.
  • Perform venipuncture and capillary finger sticks or heel sticks punctures; collect other laboratory specimens; instruct patients of all ages on collections of laboratory specimens, and properly identify and label laboratory specimens.
  • Access and create patient orders, and perform data entry of laboratory test results.
  • Provide backup for receptionist duties as required.
Knowledge and Skills:
 
Experience: From three months to one year of similar or related experience. On-the-job training provided!
 
Education: Equivalent to a high school diploma or GED.

Medical Associates is seeking a full-time Central Scheduler to support our multi-specialty surgical group. This position ensures efficient coordination and scheduling of surgical case across our clinic, hospital, and outpatient surgical center, serving as the central link between patients, providers, and surgical facilities.
 
This position will require a high attention to detail while working at a fast pace on the computer, phone, and with our patients. Ideal candidates have some experience with office administrative duties, and are known for always providing above and beyond patient/customer service.

Primary schedule: Monday – Friday between 8:00am and 5:00pm, working 40 hours per week.

Your impact and what you will be doing

  • Collaborate with health care team to direct/perform nursing assessment and interventions according to plan of care.
  • Integrate the nursing process in all patient contact, care, diagnostic testing, and treatments. Collect pertinent patient health care data, review medical records and confer/collaborate with physician/mid-level providers to ensure patient needs are met.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, co-workers, and others. Promote patient wellness and provide patient education.
  • Document care provided, including but not limited to: assessment, interventions, medication, patient education, and assist with integrity of medical record.
  • Maintain an office environment that is safe, neat, organized, and supplied with necessary equipment, instruments, supplies, and educational materials. Ensure equipment is functioning safely and properly. Perform cleaning and maintenance of equipment according to guidelines.
  • Demonstrate flexibility in performing other additional duties of patient care. Provide input for devising systems to improve quality and efficiency of patient care and workflow. Participate in required meetings.
  • Facilitate reimbursement of services provided, including but not limited to: charge tickets, referrals, and insurance requirements.
  • Complete all other assigned projects and duties.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Experience – From three months to one year of similar or related experience.

Education – Equivalent to a two-year college degree or completion of a specialized course of study or certification. RN Iowa licensure required.

Interpersonal Skills – A significant level of trust and diplomacy is required, in addition to normal courtesy and tact. Work involves extensive personal contact with others and/or is usually of a personal or sensitive nature. Work may involve motivating or influencing others. Outside contacts become important and fostering sound relationships with other entities (companies and/or individuals) becomes necessary.

Other Skills – Keyboarding skills and use of electronic equipment.  Use personal protection safety equipment including gloves, lab coats, gowns, goggles, and face masks/shields. BLS required biannually.


Physical Aspects:

Stooping – Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist. This factor is important if it occurs to a considerable degree and requires full use of the lower extremities and back muscles.

Kneeling – Bending legs at knee to come to a rest on knee or knees.

Crouching – Bending the body downward and forward by bending leg and spine.

Reaching – Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.

Standing – Particularly for sustained periods of time.

Walking – Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances.

Podiatry Assistant (Entry-Level) or CMA/LPN – Orthopedics Float

Description

The Medical Associates Podiatric & Orthopaedic Medicine & Surgery departments are hiring a full-time Podiatry Assistant (entry-level) or Certified Medical Assistant/LPN to join their teams! As part of our teams, you’ll play a crucial role in assisting with procedures and x-rays, ensuring top-notch patient care. Your home base will be in Podiatry with the expectation of floating to Orthopaedics as needed. No previous Podiatry experience required!
 
YOU can be a part of our Podiatry Clinical team! You start on-the-job training on Day 1! Non-Certified Podiatry Assistants receive hands-on and online training while working full-time to become a Certified Podiatry Assistant within their first six months of employment.
 
Schedule: Monday-Friday between the hours of 7:30am – 5pm, with an average of about 72 hours per two week pay period. Flexibility is a must!
