The National Mississippi River Museum & Aquarium is an outgrowth of the Dubuque County Historical Society, which also operates the Mathias Ham Historic Site, is home to the National Rivers Hall of Fame, and supports a national outreach program called RiverWorks Discovery.

Primary duties

Systems Administrator

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Administration

  • Maintain and administer for the corporate computing environments including computer hardware, systems software, applications software, and all configurations. Provides continuous reviews of architecture, monitors, and manages systems to provide maximum performance, availability and security.
  • Diagnose, trouble shoot and resolve hardware, software, or other network and system problems, and replace defective components when necessary.
  • Security – maintain patch levels, spam filters, anti-virus protection, etc.
  • Microsoft Office 365 administration
  • Maintains the day-to-day operation of systems and devices,
  • Provides advanced second level support for issue resolution.

Analysis

  • Monitor server and storage needs. Provide recommendations and requirements for implementation.
  • Analyze equipment performance records to determine the need for repair or replacement.
  • Monitor performance and trends to determine whether adjustments need to be made, and to determine where changes will need to be made in the future.
  • Perform periodic performance reporting to support capacity planning.

Support

  • Act as a Level 2 point of contact and provide exceptional customer service by addressing inquiries, resolving issues, and ensuring a positive customer experience.
  • Schedule maintenance to minimize disruption to the business.
  • Support ongoing maintenance for patches and upgrades.
  • Track record of log monitoring and tuning for a high performing environment.

This position is located at our Global Headquarters in Dubuque, IA, requiring daily on-site attendance, and it includes travel within the U.S. and Mexico to other Flexsteel facilities.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • College degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
  • 4+ years’ experience supporting Windows Servers in a multi-site environment is desired.
  • Advanced technical knowledge of Windows Server and VMWare is necessary.  MCITP and/or MCSE certification preferred.
  • Advanced technical knowledge of WAN/LAN/VPN concepts. CCNA level experience is mandatory.  CCNA certification is preferred.
  • Demonstrated competence with 2+ years’ experience designing, installing and supporting networks and systems and desktops
  • Knowledge of ITIL methodology is desired.

OTHER REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
  • Demonstrates critical thinking in issue identification and resolution

Location Operations

 Primary Objective:  To provide daily location operations support in an efficient and safe manner. Maintain location equipment and facilities for the benefit of IAS and its member owners.

Major Accountabilities:

  • Ability to communicate information or ideas effectively in written or oral form.
  • Ability to organize, deal with change effectively, and work on multiple tasks concurrently.
  • Possess math skills when performing basic operations.
  • Class A CDL preferred, but willing to train.
