As a Retail Pharmacy Tech at MercyOne, you will assist in the technical functions of the practice of pharmacy, enabling the pharmacist to provide pharmaceutical care to the patient.

  • Greet and assist patients/customers in person and on the phone in a professional and confidential manner 
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues and customers alike, being a good listener and adjusting style as needed 
  • Represent MercyOne Retail Pharmacies in a courteous, friendly, and caring manner 
  • Perform duties with flexibility, adapting to changing schedules and needs of the customers, prioritizing workload accordingly 
  • Operate cash register accurately, including cash, credit card, in store charges and payments on account 
  • Assist with all aspects of inventory control: ordering, receiving, stocking, returning, and additional drug inventory control duties, including checking pharmacy stock shelves for outdated drugs
  • Ensure that pharmacists are providing all patient counseling, consultation, and any other activities that involve professional judgment 
  • File prescriptions or other paperwork, stocks bottles and vials and performs other clerical duties as necessary or requested 
  • Collect accurate patient demographic, allergy and medication data from patients and caregivers 
  • Utilize pharmacy dispensing software to accurately input patient and third-party information, and process new and refill prescriptions following safety procedures to ensure pharmacist involvement in any process that would involve professional judgment 
  • Package and label prescriptions for final verification of pharmacist in an organized and highly accurate manner 
  • Contact prescribers to obtain prescription refill authorization 
  • Accept prescription refill authorizations communicated to the pharmacy by a prescriber or the prescriber’s representative – at the discretion of the supervising pharmacist, and after receiving appropriate training, may accept new prescription drug orders or medication orders communicated to the pharmacy by a prescriber or the prescriber’s agent
  • Perform drug compounding processes for nonsterile compounding as provided by Iowa Pharmacy Law after appropriate training
  • Contact 3rd party payers or physician offices as appropriate to resolve third party prescription payment issues (including prior authorization, step therapy, processing questions etc) 
  • Actively participate in quality, safety, and problem-solving activities with other pharmacy staff and hospital/clinic departments

  • Must be 18 years of age or older 
  • Registration with Iowa Board of Pharmacy within 30 days of employment

Description:

Involved in the provision of pharmaceutical care to inpatients, outpatients, and home health patients ranging in age from premature newborns to geriatrics.  Involved in the provision of educational and employee services to patients, guests, clients, hospital, and medical staff of MercyOne Medical Center. 

 

Customers include Pharmacy staff and management, medical and hospital staff and hospital clients and guests. 

Schedule: Full Time Inpatient Pharmacist, rotating shifts including weekends and overnights

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

Demonstrates specific customer focused behaviors. 

Supports and abides by all MercyOne departmental and safety policies and procedures.

Performs dispensing functions; interprets physician orders, reviews therapy for age and appropriateness, dispenses medications, checks patient trays, compounds miscellaneous drug products, etc. 

Directs IV additive system; prepares profiles and labels, compounds IV admixtures utilizing aseptic technique, dispenses, IV’s, etc. 

Participates in clinical pharmacy activities under the guidance of the clinical coordinator (pharmacokinetics, drug information, D.U.E. facilitating educational programs, etc.). 

Maintains current knowledge of departmental policies and procedures as well as state and federal regulations and maintains any documentation required by the same. 

Consults and advises nursing, allied health, home health care, medical staff, and patients on drug therapy. 

Supervises work of pharmacy personnel as needed. 

Performs other duties as assigned or required. 

Demonstrates activity to impact change within your department and with other departments. 

Promotes and establishes effective relationships within the department, with other departments, physicians, and with hospital guest and clients.

MACHINE OPERATOR 2 1ST SHIFT

Summary:

A person in the position usually reports to an area supervisor, who reports to the Manufacturing ClearSpan Manager or Weld Manager. A Machine Operator 2 is responsible for planning and producing a variety of machines parts or components and the operations of those machines with minimal supervision to meet ship dates. This person will pick programs on the machines to produce simple parts meeting print specification.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  • Set up tools, appliances, machines, tube benders, band saws, drill presses, jigs, fixtures, press brake, robots, sheers needed to assembly or fabricate the product.
  • Operate any of several types of automated and semi-automated machines that are used to produce parts and components.
  • Select the right program on numerical control machines, press brake, robots or other machinery to produce parts and components according to drawing or blueprint specifications.
  • Change fixtures out as necessary on the machines.
  • Read and understand blueprints and other shop specifications/drawings.
  • Load and unload material and set up machines for standard and for special production runs.
  • Monitor machine performance and take preventative and corrective action as needed.
  • Perform standard general and specific maintenance on production machinery as indicated by protocol.
  • Accurately use micrometers, calipers, gauges and other measuring devices.
  • Understand and use basic shop math and general machine skills.
  • Verify settings by measuring positions and first article/sample pc.
  • Conduct in process inspection of machined parts.
  • Monitor feeds and speeds of machines during the machining process.
  • Promote ESAPCO and build a positive team environment with co-workers.
  • Mentor and help train new employees.
  • Clean and maintain area and floor space containing the machines.
  • Adhere to all safety and OSHA regulations.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned.

Assistant Baseball Coach

The Assistant Baseball Coach will help recruit competitive NJCAA D2 student athletes on local, regional, state and national levels. The Assistant Coach will assist in the management and supervision of all aspects of student athletes and their development academically, athletically and socially.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree
Established record of successful experience teaching and coaching college-level baseball.
Demonstrated success in recruiting student-athletes capable of succeeding academically and athletically.
Proven ability to establish positive and effective working relationships with students, and ministration and community.

Preferred Qualifications
Master’s Degree
Demonstrated success coaching college level baseball players.

Serve as the college’s assistant baseball coach.
Recruit quality student athletes (academically and athletically) while meeting the standards set to ensure college and NJCAA compliance and success.
Ensure the baseball team competes at a high-level culminating in conference, region and national championships.
Maintain established individual and team GPA goals transferring as NJCAA qualifiers or completers. Monitor pace and progress through documented and scheduled study halls, assigned tutors, faculty conversations, and review of weekly and semester grades.
Assist in the development of strategies to increase athletic programs’ fundraising, engagement and visibility in the community leading to increased support.
Ensure new and transfer students are eligible for competition in the NJCAA.
Ensure timely advising and registration of all student athletes registered before the first class day of term which impacts eligibility.
Ensure athletic teams will maintain an average GPA of 3.0 or above.
Ensure 100% of student athletes who participate in baseball, graduate with an associate’s degree or complete desired academic pathway.
Recruit and maintain adequate team size to manage for injury and attrition and stay within allocated scholarships budgeted for the athletic program.

Responsible for field management and preparation.
Maintain the integrity of the facility and equipment in cooperation with athletic personnel.
Supports college activities and special events through attendance and/or participation.
Use interpersonal skills and make sound judgments.
