Summary

The successful candidate will work with the manager and greenhouse specialist team to harvest and transplant our lettuce crop in an environmentally controlled hydroponic greenhouse.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Harvest and transplant our hydroponic lettuce crop on a weekly basis
  • Weighing lettuce on a scale during harvest
  • Picking floats of lettuce up out of the ponds
  • Taping boxes
  • Putting floats through our float washer machine
  • Cleaning propagation tables
  • Assisting other team members with clean up after harvest
  • Other duties as assigned or required

Library Clerk

Description

This part-time Library Clerk I position, primarily providing patron assistance, circulation services is based at the Epworth Library Branch. This position is approximately 28 hours per week, requiring regular evening and alternating weekend shifts. 

Job Duties

  • Provide general library services at circulation desks using library management system and knowledge of the collection, including but not limited to:
    • material check in and check out
    • shelving materials and maintaining appropriate organization, presentation, and distribution of collection at assigned branch
    • patron registration
    • placing holds and purchase requests
    • advising patrons in locating materials
  • Perform basic reference and readers’ advisory service.
  • Assist patrons with computer, photocopier, and fax.
  • Collect fines and fees.
  • Answer incoming calls, route to appropriate staff.
  • Rotate collection materials through the branches to meet patron demand.
  • Deliver library materials to the branches.
  • Process new library materials.
  • Purchase supplies.
  • Light cleaning (e.g. dusting, disc cleaning).
  • Perform related tasks as required.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent and experience in a library or similar setting.
Bachelor’s degree and library experience preferred.

  • Be knowledgeable about all Y programs and sell them effectively. This includes being familiar with all current brochure information, upcoming events and other special activities. If information is not available, be responsible for obtaining the correct information, updating front desk resources and providing information to members.
  • Control access to the facility. Check-in members entering the building by scanning membership cards and obtaining proper identification of guests.
    Register for membership and/or programs, by inputting data in the computer, collecting the proper payment and verifying the accuracy of information on Y forms.
  • Enter all transactions accurately and completely into the computer system. Balance all end of shifts and report any discrepancies to supervisor.
  • Maintain a supply of clean towels that should be available to members and guests at all times.
  • Follow and enforce all Y procedures and policies, including: personnel guidelines, safety guidelines, facility access procedures and membership policies. Carry out emergency plans as necessary.
  • Maintain a clean and safe Y. Take initiative to clean up/repair areas.
  • Attend and remain current on all mandatory trainings and staff meetings.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Strong communication, customer service and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to actively listen.
  • This person needs to be a self-starter, able to handle multiple tasks under limited supervision, work well in a team setting and be detailed oriented.
