Position Summary

DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS: Work involves responsibility for the physical, chemical, and biological treatment of wastewater, operating and maintaining various mechanisms and pump equipment and operating the solids de-watering equipment and anaerobic digesters. The normal work schedule consists of an eight-hour shift worked on weekdays between the hours of 6:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. In addition, the position requires participation in a rotating weekend schedule, which may include working twelve-hour shifts on Saturdays and Sundays between 6:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. Work hours may vary as needed to meet operational requirements, including emergency response and staffing needs. Job Duties
- Operate physical, chemical, and biological wastewater treatment systems and equipment using SCADA and other computerized systems as primary tools to monitor system performance, control processes, review alarms and trends, and inform day-to-day operational decisions; including computers, software and hardware; pumps, control panels, chemical feed and solids dewatering equipment, anaerobic digesters, and other associated equipment.
- Perform sample collection and analysis using Standard Testing Methods or products.
- Inspect production equipment and treatment facilities and document findings using electronic systems, including computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).

Position Summary

GENERAL SUMMARY: The Digital Media Intern will focus on assisting Media Services with the curation of digital content and projects that creatively tell the stories within the City of Dubuque. Assignments will vary based on need and opportunity but may include videography, photography, social media content development, editing, and motion graphics. Helping gather footage and photos that feature city related services and events will be a main responsibility of this role. Additionally, the intern will showcase the vast reach of city services by helping Media Services craft engaging content and communication tools that will be featured on city social media pages and CityChannel Dubuque, the city’s public access channel. From arts to major infrastructure projects, this role will have the opportunity to explore the many aspects of city government through a lens.
This is a 12-week summer internship opportunity.
TEAM BACKGROUND
The Digital Media Intern will serve as a highly valued member of the Media Services team and work closely with the city’s Multimedia Specialist and Video Producer.
Media Services is a branch of the City’s Communications Office and oversees the operations and production of video content, digital photography, live City Council meetings, and more. The department’s mission is to increase awareness and understanding of city services and programs and facilitate increased transparency of Dubuque city government to promote resident and stakeholder trust and satisfaction.
The goal of this internship is to support Media Services in developing engaging visual content that enhances digital productions, while gaining experience and skills in a government setting.

- Lead video and photo shoots that will showcase City operations, events, and staff
- Edit video and photo projects with broadcast and social media audiences in mind

Responsibilities and Duties
- Prepares and processes daily cash deposits to include initiating and processing ACH transactions.
- Enters finalized cash receipts and updates accounts receivable by customer number and invoice.
- Files and maintains copies of checks, remittances and bank receipts.
