PRIMARY PURPOSE: Provides disability case management and complex claim determinations based on medical documentation and the applicable disability plan interpretation including determining benefits due and making timely payments/approvals and adjustments, medically managing disability claims including comorbidities, concurrent plans, and complex ADA accommodations; coordinates investigative efforts, thoroughly reviews contested claims, negotiates return to work with or without job accommodations, and evaluates and arranges appropriate referral of claims to outside vendors.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Makes independent claim determinations, based on the information received, to approve complex disability claims or makes a recommendation to team lead to deny claims based on the disability plan.
  • Reviews and analyzes complex medical information (i.e. attending physician statements, office notes, operative reports, etc.) to determine if the claimant is disabled as defined by the disability plan.
  • Oversees additional facets of complex claims including but not limited to comorbidities, concurrent plans, complex ADA accommodations, and claims outside of typical guidelines.
  • Utilizes the appropriate clinical resources in case assessment (i.e. duration guidelines, in-house clinicians), as needed.
  • Determines benefits due pursuant to a disability plan, makes timely claims payments/approvals and adjustments for workers compensation, Social Security Disability Income (SSDI), and other disability offsets.
  • Informs claimants of documentation required to process claims, required time frames, payment information and claims status by phone, written correspondence and/or claims system.
  • Communicates with the claimants’ providers to set expectations regarding return to work.
  • Medically manages complex disability claims ensuring compliance with duration control guidelines and plan provisions.
  • Communicates clearly and timely with claimant and client on all aspects of claims process by phone, written correspondence and/or claims system.
  • Coordinates investigative efforts ensuring appropriateness; provides thorough review of contested claims.
  • Evaluates and arranges appropriate referral of claims to outside vendors or physician advisor reviews, surveillance, independent medical evaluation, functional capability evaluation, and/or related disability activities.
  • Negotiates return to work with or without job accommodations via the claimant’s physician and employer.
  • Refers cases to team lead and clinical case management for additional review when appropriate.
  • Maintains professional client relationships and provides excellent customer service.
  • Meets the organization’s quality program(s) minimum requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education & Licensing
High School diploma or GED required.  Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college preferred. State certification or licensing in statutory leaves is preferred or may be required based on state regulations.

Experience
Three (3) years of benefits or disability case/claims management experience or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.

Instrumentation Technician – Nights

Purpose of the Position 

Installs, calibrates and preserves automated industrial machinery. 

Essential Position Responsibilities 

Maintenance, repair, and continuous improvement of all packaging and process systems, including site auxiliary equipment, in a safe efficient manner. 

Executes routine work assignments which include support in instrumentation, packaging and process controls, P-L-C, electronic equipment troubleshooting and frequency drives. 

Troubleshoots issues and performs necessary maintenance. Monitors various valves and meters to ensure proper operation. Analyzes and improves performance parameters of the automated system.

Conducts preventative maintenance. Maintains records of maintenance performed, work orders requested and parts requested. Performs daily, weekly, monthly and annual electrical PM’s when required.

Communicate and train production staff on electrical hazards and techniques in maintenance.  Has an understanding of NEC codes knowledge and ability to read/decipher blueprints, drawings and schematics.

Participates as a member of the Team.  Participates in ongoing development, communication and implementation of team concepts, programs and policies; coordinates work to ensure best practices with all team members.  Attends appropriate team meetings.  As a member of the Team, fosters strong cohesiveness regarding all major issues; e.g., direction, annual plan, budget, policy changes, etc.  Accepts responsibility to quickly identify any areas that lack cohesiveness, bringing them to the attention of the team leader and working with the team in a supportive manner to resolve issues and actively look for ways, and reinforces actions needed, to achieve synergy possible within the larger organization.

  • Makes an initial assessment of new admissions within 30 minutes of the patient’s arrival to the unit. 

  • Completes all areas of the admission assessment database within 24 hours of admission.

2. Identifies patient problems and develops them into an outcome/goal-based plan of care. 

  • Initiates the patient problem list and incorporates relevant medical history into the plan of care. 

  • Analyzes and interprets the assessment data to identify desired patient outcomes/goals. 

  • Determines nursing interventions to achieve those outcomes/goals. 

  • Prioritizes patient care needs/ activities. 

  • Identifies and makes appropriate referrals (i.e., Patient/Family Services, Nutritional Services, Spiritual Care, Diabetic Educator, etc.), and education needs.

3. Implements the outcome/goal- based plan of care.

  • Demonstrates clinical competency and technical knowledge in cardiac rhythm interpretation and telemetry monitoring.  

  • Recognizes and responds appropriately to cardiac arrhythmias and other changes in patient condition.  

  • Must be capable of managing multiple patients requiring continuous cardiac monitoring.  

  • Provides appropriate interventions for patients experiencing cardiac events or changes in rhythm.  

  • May be required to assist with data collection and quality improvement initiatives. 

  • Must be willing to serve as a resource to other hospital services (nursing, pharmacy, laboratory, radiology, respiratory, etc.).  

  • May be asked to participate in unit-based committees and provide education to nursing staff as requested.

Mechanical Engineering Design – Summer Internship

Job Summary:

As a Mechanical Engineering Design Intern for Mi-T-M you will primarily assist engineers and drafters in the design and development of industrial equipment by creating CAD models, collaborating on prototype development, and documenting technical details, gaining hands-on experience in the design process.

Responsibilities:

  • Utilization of CAD software to create 3D models, renderings and drawings
  • Assist in the fabrication, assembly and testing of prototypes, including documenting test results and identifying areas for improvement
