Scope of Service:
Provides services to all age groups of patients and significant others in order to facilitate adjustment to the impact of illness and promote maximum benefit from health care services provided.  Individuals must be knowledgeable in tri-state community resources specific to health related needs during and pursuant to hospitalization.

Customers include: patients, families or significant others, medical staff, community agencies, particularly long term care and home health agencies but including other human service providers, nursing unit personnel and directors, Quality Improvement nurses.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

Adheres to the principles of caring and expected behaviors outlined in MercyOne’s Model of Caring and Trinity Health’s Code of Conduct, fostering a climate where all customers are treated in a manner consistent with MercyOne’s Mission and Values. Maintains a working knowledge of applicable Federal, State and local laws and regulations, Trinity Health’s Organizational Integrity Program, Standards of Conduct, as well as other policies and procedures in order to ensure adherence in a manner that reflects honest, ethical and professional behavior. Performs other duties consistent with purpose of job as directed.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

Maintains a professional, collaborative work environment so as to foster a positive public image for MercyOne. Knows and adheres to all laws and regulations pertaining to patient health, safety and medical information (i.e. HIPAA, Stark, etc.) Must be able to deal with the problems of others in an objective, empathetic manner. Must be able to meet with patients, families, hospital and medical staff in assigned areas of the hospital. Ability to problem-solve creatively. Must maintain current knowledge/skills in the area of medical social service practice.

Must be able to provide critical analysis of and input to departmental procedures, standards and practices. Deals with hospital and public contacts in a cordial, courteous, and helpful manner. Documents assessment and interventions in a timely and logical manner.  Must be competent to provide care within assigned unit to the population described in the Unit’s description of services.

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Work will routinely be done within the hospital during normal office hours.  At times, the social worker will be called in for emergencies.  In an eight hour day, employee must sit six hours, stand one hour, and walk one hour.  Job requires occasional (6-10% of work time) bending and stooping.  Job requires the ability to occasionally (6-10% of work time) lift and carry objects weighing up to 10 pounds.  Job requires use of hands for repetitive action such as simple grasping. Must be able to see at a near visual acuity level. Must be able to speak. Must be able to hear speech. Must adhere to applicable organizational requirements on an annual basis for Employee Health Directives.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

Baccalaureate in Social Work required. Mastor’s in Social work preferred. Social Work experience in hospital preferred. Social Work licensure strongly preferred. Child and Dependent Adult Abuse Mandatory Reporter Training is required within 6 months of hire and every 5 years thereafter.

Medical Associates Health Plans is hiring a part-time, Patient Services Representative to answer phones, emails, and perform office tasks in our Patient Services Department, a 24-hour patient assistance line. During your shift, you will work closely with a small team to triage phone calls, set up and cancel appointments, reporting, update doctor schedule, fax documents, and take switchboard calls. 

Schedule: Hours for this position will be 4 hour evening shifts from 4-8pm, Monday-Friday.  This position will be required to work some weekends and holidays. Able to pick up other shifts as well. Excellent shift differential and ability to work from home once trained!

  • Perform clerical tasks within the Patient Services department to support Medical Associates Health Plan and Clinic staff. Administrative Assistant in the Physician Assistant Program

The University of Dubuque is a growing faith-based University that is seeking a part-time Administrative Assistant in the Physician Assistant Program

Position Summary:

The Administrative Assistant provides essential administrative and operational support to the Physician Assistant Program. This role facilitates communication between the program, the campus, and external partners; handles confidential information; coordinates faculty, staff, and student-related activities; assists with budgets, travel, events, and payments; and supports program leadership in the efficient operation of the department in alignment with the University’s Mission.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate the information flow between the Physician Assistant Program and the campus
  • Assist with travel arrangements and department reimbursements
  • Provides confidential assistance in the receipt and handling of information
  • Proactively seeks answers and solutions to inquiries; maintains office supplies and purchases
  • Coordinate and assist with faculty professional development, credentialing, and continuing education funding
  • Take minutes at all faculty/staff meetings and others as requested
  • Coordinate, plan, and arrange events
  • Provide orientation and assistance with new Staff hires
  • Manage budgets within the Physician Assistant Department under the direction of the Program Director
  • Build and maintain relationships with university departments and external organizations
  • Collaborate with University Relations on department needs and promotional items. Track and submit student fees to Student Accounts
  • Assist with administration of clinical site, preceptor, guest speaker and vendor payments
  • Perform other duties in support of the University’s Mission

Skills and Abilities:

  • Self-motivated, good interpersonal skills, and the ability to function as a team member, as well as independently
  • Ability to communicate professionally and effectively, both orally and in writing
  • Excellent organizational & problem-solving skills
  • Excellent Microsoft Word and Excel skills 
  • Ability to prioritize projects and multi-task
  • Ability to remain seated at a workstation for extended periods of time
  • Flexibility with schedule as need arises

Qualifications:

  • Associate degree required; Undergraduate Degree preferred
  • Previous computer skills (data entry, spreadsheet, word-processing, Microsoft office)
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience supporting mid- to executive level managers

Job Description

  • Responsible for providing for the safety and security of guests, employees, and property and company assets.
  • Circulate through casino and outdoor areas looking for possible disturbances, illegal activity, or safety hazards and take appropriate action.
  • Respond to emergencies in accordance with all applicable laws and company and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for the security of all keys.
  • Complete requisite paperwork related to shift activities.

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Must be able to stand and walk for the duration of a normal shift.
  • Other physical requirements include but are not limited to: lifting, reaching, kneeling, bending, and episodes of moderate to strenuous physical exertion.
  • Prior experience in casino security (or similar field) preferred.
  • May be required to possess a valid driver’s license and a driving record acceptable to the Company and/or its insurers.
  • Must be able to obtain/maintain any necessary certifications and/or licenses.

Mathias Ham Historic Site – Site Lead

The National Mississippi River Museum & Aquarium [NMRMA] is an outgrowth of the Dubuque County Historical Society [DCHS], which also operates the Mathias Ham Historic Site [MHHS], and is home to the National Rivers Hall of Fame. Its mission is to inspire stewardship through educational experiences where history and rivers come alive.

The Mathias Ham Historic Site Lead is a part-time position that serves as the primary on-site leader for MHHS, overseeing daily operations, visitor experience, and site readiness. This role supports education programming, supervises staff and volunteers, assists with special events, and helps grow community awareness and attendance. The MHHS Site Lead works collaboratively across departments to ensure the historic site is safe, engaging, and professionally operated.

Primary Duties (Appx. 70%)

  • Serve as the primary on-site lead for the Mathias Ham Historic Site, ensuring a welcoming, safe, and professional environment for visitors, staff, volunteers, and partners.
    • Support daily operations, including supervision of tour guides, gift store management and daily housekeeping.
    • Maintain accurate records, reports, and documentation related to attendance, operations, and site activity.
    • Coordinate with education staff to prepare the site for scheduled groups, programs, and events.
    • Act as on-site host or contact for special events, rentals, and select programs, including signature events such as the Fourth of July Ice Cream Social celebration.
  • Supervise and support interns, volunteers, and education staff assigned to the site.
    • Assign responsibilities, assist with daily tasks, and arrange coverage for team members as needed.
    • Ensure all staff and volunteers follow site procedures and uphold the Education Department Code of Conduct.
    • Serve as a site tour guide or facilitator as needed
    • Collaborate with the DCHS Curatorial team to monitor the condition and care of the site.

Secondary Duties (Appx. 30%)

  • Support efforts to grow community awareness and engagement with the MHHS.
  • Assist with advertising and promotion through the marketing team, social media platforms, and community events.
  • Provide input on strategies to increase attendance and earned revenue, including school field trips, facility rentals, partnerships, and community programming.
  • During the off season, focus on planning and promoting monthly events, recruiting group visits, and developing strategies to grow visitor traffic to the site.

Additional Duties

  • Serve on at least one working group or committee as assigned.
  • Maintain familiarity with history, conservation, and STEM-related topics to support cross-training and cohesion across the NMRMA and MHHS sites.
  • Attend required training sessions and staff meetings.
  • Participate in ongoing learning about the institutional collections, including artifacts, animals, and plants.
  • Collaborate with Curatorial, other DCHS departments, and city staff as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Associates degree in a related field preferred, or equivalent experience (e.g. business, marketing, education, history, anthropology, etc.).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak the English language.
  • Strong customer service, analytical, and organizational skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work successfully with diverse individuals, teams, and departments.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, visitor-focused environment.
  • Familiarity with computers, point of sales systems, and the Microsoft Office suite of programs.
  • Must possess or be able to acquire a valid Iowa, Wisconsin or Illinois driver’s license within 3 months of hire.
  • Capable of holding certification in First Aid and CPR.
  • Must be able to perform any physical demands of job duties, either with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Must possess and maintain a high degree of scheduling flexibility and willing to work some holidays and weekends.
