Safety Coordinator

The McCoy Group has an opening for a full-time Safety Coordinator for our McCoy Construction & Forestry division based at our corporate office in Dubuque, Iowa.

 

Job Summary: 

The Safety Coordinator is responsible for providing support to the safety team through overseeing all safety programs and ensuring compliance with OSHA/DOT/EPA regulations and analysis of pertinent safety metrics. This position works with the safety team to establish areas of improvement and contribute to the team efforts towards goals.  Travel will be 50% or more of work time.

Responsibilities: 

  • Provide safety support and information to all dealerships.
  • Prepare written safety programs and policies.
  • Identify company safety training needs and develops and coordinates safety training programs.
  • Works with team to develop annual company safety goals.
  • Develop and maintain controls to minimize safety and occupational health hazards.
  • Aid in selecting appropriate personal protective equipment.
  • Maintain corporate safety library (e.g. videos, regulations, reference manuals).
  • Promote safety awareness thru internal company memos, newsletters and specific training programs.
  • Assist as necessary in implementation of a hazard communication program and preparation of reports.
  • Understand federal and state OSHA/DOT and EPA regulations and monitor regulatory changes.
  • Oversee compliance with applicable OSHA/DOT/EPA regulations.
  • Audit practices and records to ensure compliance with company programs and federal/state OSHA/DOT/EPA regulations.
  • Monitor lost-time injuries/illnesses and workers’ compensation claims.
  • Review injury/illnesses and noninjury incident investigation reports and follows up as necessary.
  • Maintain onsite regular attendance as scheduled.
  • Perform other related duties as required and assigned.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • 5+ years of safety/compliance related experience preferred

COVER OP 1 1ST SHIFT

Summary:

A person in the position usually reports to an area supervisor, who reports to the Manufacturing ClearSpan Manager. A Covers Operator 1 is an entry level position and will be responsible for measuring, cutting and/or moving material for fabrication according to design drawings or work orders. This person will be responsible for quality control and getting the items ready for shipment to the customer in a timely fashion.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Set up all tools, appliances, machines, fixtures and materials needed to fabricate the assigned product.
  • Review work order for instructions and/or special requirements.
  • Measure, cut, and/or move materials into position for fabrication according to design drawings and work order instructions.
  • Inspect all work done for overall quality and identify any errors.
  • Ability to learn the heat-sealing process.
  • Correct any errors or rework as necessary.
  • Prepare finished product for next transfer or shipment.
  • Maintain a clean working environment.
  • Adhere to all safety and OSHA regulations.
  • Assist in all fabric operations
  • Other duties as assigned

INTERN – STRUCTURAL ENGINEER

Description:

Engineering Services & Products Company is a progressive and growing company that is looking for interns to join our creative team of Structural Engineers and support staff to contribute to the engineering and design of buildings and other related products. Our Engineers and Engineering support staff are very hard-working, smart and goal-oriented. The interns hired for this position should expect to learn facets of building engineering and design and will leave with invaluable skills and industry knowledge.

Position Details:

The person in this position will contribute to the engineering and design of buildings and other related products. A strong applicant will bring technical aptitude coupled with a desire for hands-on learning. In return they will be given challenging tasks with an opportunity to learn and expand their portfolio of technical and business skills. The person may work with different departments and outside vendors to identify and develop solutions to company and client needs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Gain familiarity with IBC, ASCE 7, AISC Steel Construction Manual, and other resources.
  • Learn and utilize Structural Analysis software (RISA-3D), Microsoft Excel, and/or other software tools for building engineering for client specific projects.
  • Will be given some common engineering processes or calculations to review, come up with ideas, and implement to improve the speed and accuracy. This may involve utilizing Macros and/or VBA programming within Microsoft Excel.
  • Maintain clear information on project goals, time/costs and progress.

INTERN – R&D

Position Details:

A successful candidate will be responsible for designing and developing a broad array of structural and agriculture related products to meet specific customer needs. This position requires a demonstrated proficiency in 3D design software (SolidWorks preferred) which will be used extensively in this position. This person would be responsible for producing quick and accurate drawings and models and delivering projects on time. Must be able to manage complex projects including researching, designing and/or developing methods and materials which will increase operational efficiency. Position requires strong analytical ability with emphasis on problem solving. Must be able to analyze a problem, recommend a solution and drive the implementation.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Participate in project calls and meetings to understand the needs of a customer
  • Utilize CAD software tools to create building blueprints including overall layouts and all relevant construction details.
  • Utilize CAD modeling to develop new components and products, create part and assembly drawings for manufacturing.
  • Develop practical solutions to unique challenges posed by a customers requirements.
  • Providing creative ideas and cost saving ideas to improve product design.
  • Work with manufacturing personnel, both internal and external to improve design details
  • Review existing designs and templates for accuracy.

Work on multiple projects while remaining highly organized

INTERN – CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT

The IEI reports to the Continuous Improvement Manager and works in conjunction with the Continuous Improvement Department on current projects. The IEI will help monitor our current operations and determine more efficient production processes. The IEI’s responsibilities include analyzing operations, improving workflows and production processes, reducing inefficiency, and ensuring that final products meet established quality standards. Current projects include, but are not limited to, lean projects in 5S, Standard Work, the development of MDI processes, and facility layout/reconfiguration.

Industrial Engineering Intern (IEI) Responsibilities:

  • Support Lean initiatives (5S, MDI, workflow, standard work)
  • Improve production processes to maximize efficiency and reduce waste.
  • Develop and implement process and methods improvements.
  • Performing time studies and defining production standards.
  • Developing and maintaining process documentation such as standard work, written work instructions, and control plans.
  • Participating in special projects supporting the business as required

ASSOCIATE PROJECT MANAGER

The person in this position reports to Senior Lead Project Manager and is responsible for supporting the planning, coordination, and execution of construction projects from start to finish. This role works closely with Project Managers, clients, subcontractors, design professionals, and senior leadership to ensure the projects are delivered on time, within the scope and within budget. The Associate Project Manager plays a key role in managing documentation, tracing project progress, and resolving issues that may arise throughout the construction lifecycle.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead small or standard projects through all phases of construction including pre-construction, construction, and closeout.
  • Collaborate with engineers and contractors to ensure alignment with project goals.
  • Complete, manage and maintain project documentation including RFI’s, submittals, change orders, punch lists, and document tasks.
  • Prepare, review, and maintain project schedules and budgets.
  • Support internal meetings and customer communications.
  • Track and report project progress, costs, and issues.
  • Support bid and procurement processes including reviewing proposals and vendor coordination.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards, local building codes, and permitting requirements.
  • Learn and use ERP, Procore and scheduling systems.
  • Participate in training across PEMB, greenhouse and fabric building types.
  • Abide by all company rules, policies, and regulations. Inform management of any violations.
  • Conduct site visits if needed and monitor field activities to verify project milestones and quality control.
  • Assist with resolving field issues by coordinating with project management.
  • Any and all other responsibilities as given by Senior Lead Project Manager or the Director of Design and Engineering.

MACHINE OPERATOR 3 1ST SHIFT

Summary:

A person in the position usually reports to an area supervisor, who reports to the Manufacturing ClearSpan Manager or Weld Manager.  A Machine Operator 3 is responsible for planning and producing a variety of machines parts or components and the operations of those machines with minimal supervision to meet ship dates.  This person will pick programs on the machines to produce simple parts meeting print specification. This is safety sensitive position because this individual could be operating forklifts or combi’s, operating CNC machines, jigs, fixtures, tube benders, drill presses, saws, punch press, grinders, belt sanders, robotic welders, shears, milling machines and several other power and hand tools. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Meet all of the criteria as a Machine Operator 1 and 2.
  • Produce machined and constructed items by programming, setting and operating a computer numerically controlled machine.
  • Plan machining by studying work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, materials, specifications, locations of surfaces and machining parameters.  Must have an understanding of principals of tolerances.
  • Produce machined parts by programming, setting up and operating CNC machines maintaining quality and safety standards.
  • Ability to make slight modifications to the programs for at least one of the machines.
  • Keep accurate records in E10 and other areas.
  • Maintain equipment and supplies.
  • Knowledge of cutting tool feeds, speeds and tool life.
  • Set-up and program prove-outs and optimizing programs for simple parts.
  • Program mills, plasma be entering instructions, including zero and reference points; setting tool registers, offsets, compensation and conditional switches; calculating requirements, including basic math.
  • Value self-leadership by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical publications
  • Ability to troubleshoot and identify the root-cause of a quality related issue in a systematic fashion.
  • Ability to program machines to produce simple parts meeting print specifications.
  • Be willing to teach co-workers whether formal and informal training.
  • Make recommendations on fixtures that increase productivity, repeatability or quality of parts produced.
  • Maintain specifications by observing machine operations, troubleshooting processes and adjusting and reprogramming controls.
  • Change fixtures out as necessary on the machines.
  • Read and understand blueprints and other shop specifications/drawings.
  • Load and unload material and set up machines for standard and for special production runs.
  • Accurately use micrometers, calipers, gauges and other measuring devices.
  • Promote ESAPCO and build a positive team environment with co-workers.
  • Clean and maintain area and floor space containing the machines.
  • Adhere to all safety and OSHA regulations.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned.

ERP SYSTEMS ANALYST

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Information Systems or a related degree.
  • Three to five years’ related experience in a manufacturing environment using Epicor ERP software.
  • Ability to take initiative and follow through with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a calm and efficient manner.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • ERP system implementation experience a plus.

PRODUCTION WORKER 1ST SHIFT CURTAIN

A person in the position usually reports to an area supervisor, who reports to the Manufacturing ClearSpan Manager. A Production Worker is responsible for producing, fabricating and/or assembling products and for setting up and maintaining an environment within which products may be produced. This is a safety sensitive position because this individual will be using a variety of machines and tools including fabric cutters, power hand tools, quilters, saws, sewing machines and other manufacturing machinery.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Set up all tools, sewing machines, saws, quilters and materials needed to assemble and/or fabricate the assigned product.
  • Ability to operate power and hand tools and other machines such as drills, fabric cutters, and other manufacturing machinery. 
  • Ability to load and unload workstation with tooling and product.
  • Review work order for instructions and/or special requirements.
  • Measure, cut and/or move materials into position for fabrication or assembly according to design drawings and work order instructions.
  • Fabricate and/or assemble product.
  • Inspect all work done for overall quality and identify any errors.  If instructions call for an external inspector, notify inspector and wait for inspection.
  • Correct any errors or rework as necessary.
  • Prepare finished product for next assembly or for transfer to another location as indicated by instructions.
  • Support and practice safe operation of equipment in adherence to ESAPCO safety procedures and regulations.
  • Document work completed.
  • Accomplish organizational goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests, explore opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
