EHR Specialist I

Responsibilities

 

The EHR Specialist I supports the day-to-day use of the Electronic Health Record (EHR) by assisting staff with basic system navigation, user access needs, documentation requirements, and troubleshooting routine issues. This role focuses on frontline support, simple configuration tasks, basic user training, and accuracy of clinical documentation. The EHR Specialist I works closely with clinical and administrative teams and escalates more advanced issues to the EHR Specialist II or EHR Applications Manager. Additional responsibilities include:

  • Serve as the first point of contact for routine EHR questions, user navigation assistance, password resets, and troubleshooting. 
  • Identify and document user issues and escalate advanced workflow or system concerns as appropriate. 
  • Provide support to users on EHR and applications questions. 
  • Assist with account provisioning and de-provisioning based on defined access templates. 
  • Support compliance with HIPAA, 42 CFR Part 2, and confidentiality standards. 
  • Collaborate with HR and IT teams to ensure timely onboarding/offboarding workflows are consistently followed for EHR user access, to align with Identity Access Management (IAM). 
  • Provide EHR and application training for new hires, including system login, system navigation, and workflows. 
  • Assist with updating training materials, quick guides, tip sheets, and user instructions. 
  • Assist with testing EHR updates, patches, and minor template adjustments under the direction of EHR Specialist II or EHR Manager. 
  • Gather and document user feedback during enhancement, rollout, and update activities, and share findings with EHR Specialist II or EHR Manager to help identify issues, refine workflows, and improve user experience. 
  • Assist with communication related to system updates, planned downtimes, and changes. 
  • Work collaboratively with the EHR Manager, EHR Specialist II, IT, Compliance, and clinical teams to support smooth EHR operations. 
  • Participate in meetings, training sessions, and improvement initiatives. 
  • Maintain accurate documentation of issues, resolutions, user interactions, and system-related needs. 
  • Shared after-hours and weekend on-call support, as assigned, to ensure timely response to urgent EHR issues, system access needs, or critical workflow disruptions. 
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

 

Requirements

 

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalency required.
  • Associate or bachelor degree in Health Information Management, Health Informatics, or a related healthcare/IT field preferred.

Experience:

  • 1–2 years of experience in healthcare, EHR use, clinical documentation, or health information support required. 

Knowledge/Skills:

  • Basic understanding of HIPAA, 42 CFR Part 2, and healthcare privacy standards. 
  • Familiarity with behavioral health EHR systems (e.g., Credible, Netsmart, Epic Behavioral Health, or similar) preferred. 
  • Strong communication, customer service, and troubleshooting skills with the ability to support users with varying technical proficiency. 
  • Ability to learn new systems quickly and follow established procedures accurately. 

 

Licenses/Certifications:

  • Mandatory Reporter of Child/Dependent Adult Abuse Certification or the ability to obtain within six (6) months of hire and every three (3) years thereafter required.

What You’ll Do
In addition to performing routine maintenance, you will be doing basic troubleshooting and repairs to ensure minimum schedule impact on all SC Aviation’s managed aircraft without compromising safety or quality. The Maquoketa Company is seeking a motivated individual to join our company as a full-time CNC Machinist. Hours will be on 2nd shift, Monday – Thursday, 4:30 PM – 3:00 AM. Training generally takes place on day shift. A qualified CNC machinist with a minimum of two years experience running CNC multi-axis machines is needed. Set-up experience is a plus.

Academic Advisor

Position Summary:

The Biology Department at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville invites applications for a part-time Academic Advisor. This position will work directly with first year and transfer students to help them plan a successful academic path toward their degree and provide ongoing support for their learning. An Academic Advisor will engage students in decision making processes and promote appropriate and responsible choices on academic matters such as course selection and degree requirements. Will maintain appropriate confidentiality, update student advising records, and contribute to the delivery and development of academic advising related events and programs. Will work collaboratively with faculty members in the Biology Department to help students succeed. The successful candidate will work to ensure students receive accurate, timely, and holistic advising services in support of promoting student success, retention, and program completion while striving to create a welcoming and equitable environment. This position is scheduled primarily during normal working hours and is in-person.

This is a part-time (20 hours per week) position with a wage of $21.63 per hour. The University of Wisconsin System offers a nationally top ranked retirement plan and a comprehensive benefits package.

Key Job Responsibilities:

Academic Advising:

  • Receives, processes, and responds to academic inquiries according to established policies and procedures.
  • Serves as a main point of contact for first year and transfer students and provides information about educational options and academic requirements; assists with identifying and assessing interests, skills, and values to match appropriate field of study/career options, and refers students to appropriate institutional resources.
  • Collaborates with faculty advisors to successfully transition students after their first year.
  • Assists in running the Biology Peer Mentor Program.
  • Maintains expertise with advised curriculum and may assist in developing and recommending exceptions for policy and curriculum.
  • Monitors academic progress of students and develop intervention strategies to assist students in their academic development; make referrals as warranted.
  • Implements academic advising events such as workshops, panel discussions, and guest speakers.

  • Works with students (including those “at-risk”) one-on-one to help them develop effective learning strategies and to become self-regulated learners.
  • Motivates students to identify and overcome obstacles that may be impeding academic success.
  • Instructs students on how to focus on individual goals and identify steps in reaching those goals.
  • Works with students to develop strong time-management and organization.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in counseling, communication, education, psychology, student services, biology or a related field.
  • Minimum of 1-year professional experience in one or more of the following areas: academic advising, academic coaching, working with transfer students, admissions, student services education setting, or related programs.
  • Highly motivated, empathetic person with strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Experience working with students and/or clients using academic & career advising theory and techniques.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills, attention to detail, and openness to new approaches and ideas.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
  • Proficient in software applications such as Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Skilled in conducting presentations in front of small and large groups.
