ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

3.    Performs other duties consistent with purpose of job as directed.
4.    Monitors the collection, transportation, storage, identification and processing of specimens to ensure specimen integrity prior to testing. Takes appropriate action if acceptable criteria are not met.
5.    Accurately enters patient demographics, insurance information, diagnosis codes, and laboratory test orders into laboratory or hospital information systems. Accessions specimens into appropriate laboratory system including specific specimen source and collection information.
6.    Performs specimen preparation including proper identification, aliquoting, and handling/storage instructions and procedures.
7.    Performs specimen processing according to laboratory procedures to include manual processes and instrumentation operation.
8.    Performs preventative maintenance and basic troubleshooting of instrumentation and equipment. Communicates problems to appropriate staff members.
9.    Observes all safety and infection control practices where indicated.
10.    Demonstrates the ability to organize, prioritize, and execute daily workload. Maintains a neat and orderly workplace.
11.    Adheres to all Laboratory and Hospital Policies & Procedures.
12.    Effectively communicates with laboratory staff and clients in a professional manner. Responds promptly and courteously to client requests, concerns, and questions.
13.    Assists in the instruction and orientation of new laboratory staff.
14.    Maintains confidentiality with all information consistent with HIPAA and laboratory policy.
15.    Maintains adequate supplies levels in the work area and orders items as needed.
16.    Attends workshops and continuing education seminars that are applicable to job duties.
17.    Participates in committees as approved by supervisor.

Job Summary:

The Press Brake Operator, you will operate a press brake machine, including changing machine tooling/dies, interpreting blueprints for quality assurance, and setting up machinery for production runs. The ideal candidate will possess a working understanding of Fabrication workflow processes and demonstrate a readiness to grasp quality control standards, machine setup procedures, and proficiency in utilizing measurement tools.

Responsibilities:

  • Position each piece against stops and form piece to the required angle and bends
  • Check finished piece against print for correct dimensions, make adjustments to the press brake as needed
  • Read and interpret shop drawings to perform brake operations
  • Maintains and adjusts set ups as required
  • Maintains and communicates stock level of parts
  • Reports promptly any and all problems concerning safety, quality, equipment and production
  • Operates brake as process and policy requirements indicate to ensure proper set up and operations is followed and maintained
  • Inspects product to ensure levels of quality and quantity are met as established by the company
  • Trouble shoot any issues that may arise with the machine
  • Follow instructions per order for correct quantity and material sizes
  • Measuring parts with a dial caliper or tape measure.

Director of the Department of Engineering

The University of Dubuque is a growing faith-based University that is seeking a Director of the Department of Engineering

Position Summary:

The Director will play a central role in launching the University’s new undergraduate Engineering program, a strategic initiative to enhance the connection of UD to the regional economic and civic communities. This role offers a unique, career-defining opportunity to design, develop, and implement the entire engineering curriculum from the ground up.

The Engineering program will be housed in the new Chlapaty Center for Innovation, a state-of-the-art, 75,000-square-foot building complex that is scheduled to open in the fall of 2027. The facility will serve as an interdisciplinary learning hub for university students, supporting student learning and the development of their creative ideas. This space – designed to encourage interdisciplinary, hands-on, experiential learning – will benefit a variety of disciplines (e.g., engineering, health and medical sciences, business, communications, fine arts, digital art and design, computer science, and aviation). It will include engineering laboratories, collaborative makerspaces, innovation arenas, and flexible learning environments that place the student at the center of the learning experience where they will “learn by doing.”

A critical responsibility will be the planning, specification, and outfitting of the dedicated engineering labs, collaborative makerspaces, and innovation arenas within this interdisciplinary hub, ensuring a modern, hands-on, experiential learning environment for students across campus and across the tri-state community.

The Director will drive the program through the final stages of internal and external approvals, with the goal of launching a general engineering degree (with tracks in mechanical, electrical, software, and civil) in the fall of 2027. This position requires an entrepreneurial leader eager to shape the future of engineering education at UD and serve as a catalyst for innovation in the tri-state area.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and implement the curriculum for the new undergraduate Engineering program, including developing all initial course offerings
  • Visionary and entrepreneurial leadership skills with a proven track record of bringing projects from concept to completion
  • Ability to develop, launch, and manage a new academic program
