POSITION SUMMARY

Oversight of accounts payable, purchasing card management, cashiering, data entry and administrative support services for Loras College within the Business Office.

Essential Functions Statement(s)

  • Oversee the performance of the accounts payable function for Loras College, including:
    • Management of the College’ Purchasing Card program.
      • Add/edit users
      • Training new users on use, policies, etc.
      • Review charges for proper coding and business purpose
      • Monitor purchases for Sales Tax charges
      • Develop vendor relationships and pay invoices that can be paid via credit card.
      • Submit purchases via Purchasing Card for those departments that donΓÇÖt have a card
      • Provides communication to Campus Community on regular basis regarding Purchasing Card and other timing related needs
    • Accounts Payable
      • Compiles information and data to prepare Check Requisitions Forms for the procurement of supplies, services and equipment
      • Reconciles and processes all utility bills for payment
      • Reconciles invoices received with Check Requisition Forms and and verifies proper budget account numbers
      • Responsible for maintenance of vendor files including processing of W-9′
      • Reviews all charges for related sales tax
      • Maintains copies of state sales tax exemptions
      • Management of vendor ordering accounts (Amazon, Sam’ Club, Staples, etc.)
      • Performs weekly check runs
      • Processes annual 1099 reporting
    • Cashiering and Administrative Support
      • Serves as cashier for all in-person deposits and provides customer service at cashier window
      • Maintains knowledge of student accounts in order to answer questions from constituents
      • Imports and posts gifts from the Institutional Advancement Office
      • Sorts and distributes daily mail
      • Assists with daily balancing of the cash drawer
      • Assists with entering journal entries and check requisitions as needed
      • Assists accounting personnel and acts as backup to other Business Office staff as necessary

Education: High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED) required. Associates degree in Accounting or Business related field preferred.

Experience: Minimum of two years of general office experience which includes computer and accounting duties. Experience working with Microsoft Excel necessary. Accounts payable/receivable experience preferred.

 

Other Requirements: Some knowledge of the principles and practices of clerical accounting work. Ability to classify accounting transactions, maintain accounts and prepare reports. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, students, vendors, and the general public. Ability to use discretion and to keep confidential all matters relating to the College and its employees. Knowledge of related computer applications.

Visiting Assistant Professor of Music (Instrumental)

POSITION SUMMARY. The Music Studies program at Loras College invites applications for a two-year Visiting Assistant Professor of Music with specialization in instrumental music to begin in August 2026. As a member of the School of Humanities and Education, the ideal candidate will demonstrate excellence in teaching a range of courses for the undergraduate major, including Wind Ensemble and Jazz Ensemble, and courses in the Music Studies curriculum such as Music in the Movies or World Music and Cultures. Candidates will be expected to teach in the general education curriculum and academically advise students. In addition to teaching, service to the College and engagement with scholarship in line with the Boyer Model is strongly desired.

The Music Studies program seeks a highly motivated, personable and innovative candidate to continue developing powerful musical experiences for Loras students and the broader Dubuque community. Familiarity with liturgical music and Catholic Social Teaching is preferred as it relates to programming and events, instruction and course content, as well as the Loras College mission.

This is a non-tenure track position, but a candidate that plays a key role in expanding the Music Studies program will be given strong consideration for an extended contract at the end of the 2-year term.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE. A doctorate degree in music (including candidates that are ABD) from an accredited institution is preferred. A master’s degree in music with significant experience will be considered. Additional qualifications include:

  • Given that the College is a diocesan Catholic college, will carry out your functions of your position in support of the College’s Catholic Identity, mission and in support of Church teachings.
  • Commitment to the mission and support for the College’s Catholic liberal arts tradition
  • Experience directing instrumental ensembles at the college or high school level or within the music industry
  • Comfortability programming music and events for instrumental ensembles, recruiting students for music ensembles and degrees, collaborating with colleagues and community members, organizing adjunct instruction for applied instrumental lessons and studio classes
  • Performance skills and technical knowledge as an instrumentalist

Sales Internship

Are you a college student looking for flexible hours? Great River Learning is seeking an intern who wants to learn about product development from start to finish, and who are interested in pursuing an outside sales position after graduation. In this internship, you will receive sales training and implement basic sales calls. Imagine the fun and excitement of being an investor on Shark Tank. Our sales process is to interview college professors, listen for business potential, and persuade select candidates to work with our company. Wouldn’t that be a fun way to acquire new business!? At Great River Learning (GRL) you’re in the driver’s seat. You work with different colleges and universities in your territory to identify business opportunities, interview professors, and persuade author candidates that have what it takes to become GRL authors. We want to partner with talented educators in charge of lower-level, higher-enrollment courses to develop more interactive and engaging materials. Also, if the publication we develop works well locally we have the experience and resources to market it nationally.
